みんなのうた are songs made/produced by the NHK it seems. The series started in 1961. It’s a single song that’s often animated with Japanese subtitles and played between programs. Many are kids’ songs, but some are also intended for adult audiences. I’ve yet to come across one that has difficult grammar though. Many have furigana as well. I think they are fairly understandable at an N4/WK ~30 level, but if you’re lower level, you might need to use a dictionary. I will try to exclusively add songs with the video (aka subtitles). Here is a complete list of the songs on Wikipedia. On here, I will try to link videos to each of the songs. I haven’t quite decided on the formatting yet or if I want to add a short description or the song’s topic, so I’ll wait to make this a wiki.
Oh, I totally forgot about みんなのうた! Thanks for reminding me. It’s a great series. If only I could remember the name of that one song I love? Or at least where it was from?
You can look at the names on the wiki (in Japanese if you change the language too!). I’m sure I can finish listing/finding videos for all of these by the end of the year though
There’s a version of paprika sang by kids in the NHK channel. It’s pretty fun seeing the differences of the children vs Kenshi’s singing (the kids version sounds hopeful and excited, while Kenshi’s sounds nostalgic and yearning).
Paprika is one of my favorite songs of him, and what made me find out about minna no uta haha
I just saw one on TV and thought it was a nice song. It’s a little fast-paced but you can practice counting things and pick up some useful adjectives in the song, so I thought it would be worth sharing. If you follow the link, you can find most if not all of the songs listed there.
That’s really awesome! I don’t understand why, but I could listen to the one you linked but none of the rest. There’s just no play button when I try to watch them
I tried searching an interesting looking one about melons, and got this
I’m pretty sure it’s a vid where the youtuber is explaining how minna no uta made these songs have a cutesy meaning rather than their vastly different original or intended meaning…
Kind of like finding out the meaning of Message in Rouge after hearing it so many times in Kiki’s Delivery Service?
I guess the request button is to help keep their server space free??
Most of them are up on Youtube too though so I’m not too upset about it. Although maybe most of them on Youtube don’t also have the animation with them.
