I elected to go with only a single chapter this week (along with the colour pages), largely because of how the rest of the book is structured, so it’s a bit of a shorter read than usual. The title image of this week’s chapter doesn’t appear to be reference to anything in particular.
Page 9, the item inserted into Bocchi’s left eye in the third panel is an in jelly pouch by Morinaga… which makes me suspect the other things in this panel are also real products, though I don’t really recognise them well enough to be able to look them up.
The penultimate panel of page 15 is the Shawshank Redemption movie poster, of course.
When I was switching sites I accidentally read the special first because that was the order they had it in and thought I should get a headstart just in case I ran into any issues oops
But this chapter kinda hit close to home! I recently made something I put a lot of effort into that had lots of good parts, but I ran into technical difficulties halfway through and was running out of steam near the end which showed, so in the end it was mid. But this chapter got me motivated for next time!
Every time we start a new volume and the first pages are not in 4-koma and in full color, I can’t help but thinking of how nice it would have been if Bocchi was that way all the time

New characters Oyama Nene and Hinata Erena take their family names from those of rock band STRAIGHTENER.
Page 23, Bocchi’s holding a sasumata. They’re probably apparent enough, but the third panel is referencing One Piece, Attack on Titan, and Avenvengers. In the fourth panel, Nene’s favourite band is Sandaime J Soul Brothers.
Done a chapter. Era’s (I think that’s her name?) fan lingo was really difficult, thankfully I had a little experience from 着せ替え人形’s Marin-chan, but it was still pretty rough going.
