Until I saw the bandages I didn’t realise 二瓶巴 was the witch the witch that Makoto worked with in her trip to Tokyo . She did tell us on page 18 but I missed that first time. Her familiar is called ミンミン.
Agree it was a funny chapter. I particularly liked the 使い魔 joke on the top of page 13 although it took me a minute to figure out what was happening in the panel - I thought Akane was pointing to the 使い魔 in the panel below on first reading!
I also loved how the witches change shape and fly away at the end of the witches’ council. Especially the one who looks like an escaped extra from “Spirited Away”!
Well that went in directions I didn’t expect! Nihei has some serious abs hiding under those bandages! Loved her fight scene, was more like Marvel than manga! I was getting Wonder Woman vibes with the way she worked those bandages. Loved the way she fired the bandage through the golem’s head hole. Such a cool picture of her on the page after the chapter finishes.
ツボージ was a fun character. I love when it pulls out its smartphone, and it’s soft spot for the witches. And the very serious - ルールはルール!
I seriously thought the girls had cracked the riddle, especially when ツボージ pulled out the drinking set. I find it hard to believe they won’t be successful in their mission. Perhaps tomorrow they can try again. I think I may have been misled by the front cover thinking we would see more of Nao in this one…
EDIT - forgot to say earlier, I thought 壺 was such a beautiful kanji!
I had to look back to chapter 64 to work out who the blonde girl was at the start of this chapter - it’s Nihei’s familiar ミンミン who can shift from snake form into human form.
Isn’t that just because it went from day to night? She’s only in dog form during the day, I thought.
…But wait, actually, why was she in human form during their whole fight with the golem and everything though? That looked like daytime to me, unless I missed something
Ah, yes that explains it. She also has that potion now that she can take a few drops of for a short period of human form. But the old night time switch must still be happening too.
Well that was very interesting! Sayo’s mini tornado seemed to head off its own volition into the centre of the main tornado and switch off the wind. I think that is a little bit more than the butterfly effect!
Page 122 - Wow Akane’s speech bubble was very difficult to read all in hiragana! This is what I got putting back the kanji, romaji and katakana where they should be!
I have never related to Akane more than on pg 122-123, screw technology man
In fact you can read the entire saga of me trying to get a new phone in the Complaining is a Must thread, if you really want to/haven’t already
Also happy to see the little radish guys running about again
I’m assuming the cats are singing the Darth Vader theme. That was what I thought when I first read it although I couldn’t quite get it to fit. But then she called the video ニャースベーダーso I guess it is!
I quite liked the way this chapter played out. A bit like when Akane found the permanent cure for Inukai’s dog transformation. It would be a shame to completely lose Inukai in her dog form, as it’s felt like one of the key characters in the manga. But then they found a plot twist that meant she carried on in dog form after all.
In the same way we’ve seen Akane get some technology, but it looked like we were going to lose the mysterious tech-free Akane who disappears and is uncontactable. But we got her back by the end of the chapter!
