Yeah I can handle a screenshot, but some people seem to have employed more editing skills than I can! I think it doesn’t help that I mostly use my iPad so struggle to do things I’d be able to do on my laptop. Relevant for the next couple of weeks as I’m actually overseas and won’t have a laptop along.
Tech is not my forte but using the forums has helped a bit. I don’t think it helps that I’m mainly using computer programs from the last century (I think you’ll know the feeling given we’re in the same profession!).
Recently got a keyboard case for my iPad which has transformed the iPad experience. Especially helpful when posting bookclub threads - editing, copying, pasting so much easier!
つばあり帽 just monologuing aloud about his secret plan… Not so smart.

Lots of character growth for Richeh. Poor Yuini, the detail of his magic having more arrows to compensate for his lack of confidence and Richeh noting that in a way it was him making his own style of magic was very clever and touching I thought. I like that the author manages to find new ways weave the magic system within the emotional narrative.
One bit that I didn’t quite get is that Richeh’s bro says that she can “rescue” him? Rescue him from what?
I don’t think that’s been properly explained yet. On the page before, the way the teacher touches his hair seems kinda inappropriate, and Lilifin seems reluctant to follow him alone, so maybe there’s some sort of abuse going on?
This is the only club where I have no problem following the pace, so I don’t really care if we have a break or not.
Yeah there definitely seems to be some trauma going on, at some point I wondered if maybe he hadn’t be brainwashed or something like that given that Richeh seems so obsessed with not “losing herself” but if that’s the case it seems odd that she would effectively abandon him to join K-dog instead. Although I suppose at this point we don’t know the full story of how that happened yet.
I wonder if this manga would dare tackle child abuse beyond what we’ve already seen with Yuini. That would be a very dark turn, although a potentially interesting one if done well.
EDIT: I wrote “Ririphin” as a joke but apparently the official translation is “Riliphin”.
Ok, so I’m not ignoring the discussion regarding a one week break - I think if there are several people interested in this we should do so. Especially since @Akashelia looked to be behind before going away.
I’ve posted this week’s thread as next week I’ll be on a hike in Nepal on the Saturday, so I’m proposing that next week is our break week. Hope this works for everyone.
Thank you @Cathm2 for taking over and posting Chapter 26 while I was gone! Chapter 27 will be next week then
And thank you @simias for suggesting a break. Never crossed my mind I’ll try to remember to ask about that once in a while, and of course anyone feel free to speak up. Could also just agree to have a one week break between each volume? (and too bad the Asterix book club didn’t take off. It’s tempting to try it in Japanese, though I’m not sure I would want to put myself through having to decipher Vercingetorix in katakana…).
I’m not sure we need a break week between each volume, I suspect with it ending in cliffhangers regularly that people will be keen to read on. But maybe a poll every now and then to see how people are going?
Yeah the chapter seems to mainly set up a bunch of new characters without much of a payoff. It’s a bit frustrating given all the stuff happening with Koco&co.
