とんがり帽子のアトリエ Volume 12 🧙‍♀️

When we meet Alayla for the first time, she does talk with Qifrey about taking in Koko and his hunt for clues about the つばあり, but only because she heard about it. The magic police are indeed aware of Koko’s origins, which is made clear by their conversation after accosting the atelier crew during the river incident. Beldarut is probably the most likely candidate he made the call to.

Given the fact that even Tetia mentions she heard rumors about a 知らざる者 who was allowed to become a disciple, I think we can safely assume that the whole affair is an open secret, signed off by people with the authority and interest in doing so.

Come to think of it, even K-dog still had people pointing him out and talking about him behind his back during the festival. Wizarding society strikes me as the kind of place where everyone knows everyone and if you come in as an outsider, people notice and will never let you forget that you are one.

Oh dear, Tetia has turned brim-curious as well!

Cool entrance, but why did he stick around (at sea, nonetheless) instead of high-tailing it out of there?

His fatal flaw seems to be that he has a grudge against Beldarut and an constant urge to tell everyone about it, even if it gives his opponents time to strike back against him. Classic villain problem.

Chapter 68

That explains why he got his ass handed to him in the end. But why was he still there in that place?

I mean that whole commotion with the giant leech covering the city must have been playing out for a while now, probably hours. And yet he stayed there instead of using the chaos to get away which was his original intent :person_shrugging:

Oh well, it gave us a really nice fight :mage::ocean::high_voltage::man_mage:

Class is over, you have been schooled!

A little late but I don’t have much to say anyway. Exciting stuff happening!

I like that Tetia is given some コマ time again, it’s been a while. Interesting conundrum for her too.

I agree with the mangaka: twins are creepy.

By the way, there’s a bonus chapter. Is that part of this week’s reading or next week’s? I think it’s about 16 pages long.

Hm, I’ve already read it, so this week?

Oh, that. Yeah, I’m sure he had very good reasons he just chose to not share with us.

I’ve also read it, so I’m in favor

Forgive me Beldarut-sensei but I must go all out, just this once

A very battle shounen-esque chapter. I can’t wait for the martial art tournament arc.

I struggled a bit to understand Engendil’s ramblings but at the same time they didn’t seem all that insightful.

I’m happy that it turned out that K-dog’s critical wound was a fake-out because at first I thought we were going to go through a few chapters of “IS K-DOG GOING TO DIE???!! (no he’s not because he’s one of the main characters and is clearly halfway through his arc but let’s pretend that we’re worried)”

A lot of very cool visuals, as always with this manga. However, as always with this manga, I was also sometimes a bit confused by the action and what was happening exactly. At some point Engendil seemed to make something rain down and I couldn’t quite figure out what it was and how much of a threat it would be. It seems that K-dog manages to shield himself and koco effortlessly.

Same. I also needed ages to figure out how he’s working magic and I’m still not sure I got it right. He’s got magic circles inked on his hands, and it seems that his brim is also made from ink and getting some on his thumb activates either one circle or all the circles on one hand, since they seem to be linked somehow…?

I’m also very glad the story didn’t go there again, after he just got wounded what felt like days ago during the second exam arc.

Since this is the first time we see this way of combining magic circles without any explanation by the characters my hypothesis is this: The circles are linked by the lines running between them and in the specific instance on his hands he can close the “circuit” by pressing his fingers together and then release the magic which in this case seems to be some kind of lightning/electricity by breaking the circle again by “snapping his fingers”.

That was my understanding as well although @Boodil’s theory is interesting as well. I also assumed that they were tattoos but then they dilute in the sea water at the end, so probably not. Then again he probably didn’t have enough time to get tattoos…

I found this new way of magic quite interesting, especially the “flowchart” on page 142 made me instantly think of “magic programming”.
