This is a sequel series to the original Shirokuma Cafe (and bis) series! We read the previous as a group here, then I decided to continue reading the series and leave my thoughts here for anyone in the future who picks up the books and wants a place to chat about it! Unfortunately I don’t have an ebook version so no cute screenshots this time, but I will monologue through each chapter
While there isn’t ~technically~ a schedule, I’ll still be setting a self reading goal of about 2 chapters a week (except for the first week since ch1 is longer), so if you wanna join in @equant@Olena-K feel free!

I’m going to do my best. I have the first two volumes. I’m not sure if can keep up with that pace, but it’s worth trying and seeing how it goes. I’m joining a few other book clubs trying to prioritize reading, but likely I’m overcommitting and will have to re-correct.
What does “bis” mean? When I bought these originally, I thought they were the same books, just bigger. Mostly I just buy the larger format books so that I have a prayer at reading the furigana.

My process for these is note down any vocab I can’t recall even if I know its stored in my mind somewhere, if I can’t remember it this time it gets noted, and then if I still can’t figure out the sentence knowing all the vocab then break it down, give it an attempted translation, and check deepL as well

Thoughts
That was a cute start to the book! I thought it was regular panda the whole time, I didn’t catch on that we were following his little brother didi (dee dee?) the whole time (Didn’t know he had a brother lol). But I liked the tour of a chunk of the side characters. Also big fan of didi having a panda backpack just like panda has his panda side bag
I bought e-book. Probably print book would be much better. But it will take me a while to understand how to make the order . Also I wonder how much will the delivery be? I see the same book in my local Amazon, but kind of a few times more expensive.
But I started reading it! Of course, I’ll be veeeery slow. It’s good to have GPT to help me with grammar. Honestly, at the moment I’m more curious about grammar than vocabulary. However, I was amazed to see this fancy way of saying “Thank you” - お世話になってます
@WeepingWeeb How do you write all of those kanji in your previous post? Do you know how they are reading, and so just typing them? Probably I won’t do such notes…. I also struggle with drawing kanji in my notebook, but that’s not a priority for now…
Yeah since there’s furigana I type that in and the suggested kanji words shows up
Yeahh depending where you are but for me usually the delivery costs like ten times the price of one book itself so I only order physical books if I plan on getting a lot at one time
In this case お世話になる doesn’t work that well. It’s used to mean more along the lines of “tank you for taking care of me”. In situations like saying it to a teacher that helped you or your host family or a friend that let you stay over etc…
Hi! I bought the series a bit back but never got around to reading it. Am I supposed to read the other books before these? Or can I jump right into these?
Yeah you can pretty much jump in, there isn’t so much as a proper plot, rather just funny snippets of mini stories. The only thing you’ll miss is that most characters have already been introduced before but not much happened worth noting
I saw we didn’t have a spreadsheet so I decided to make one (hope that’s okay!). I’ve worked on Ch1, but please anyone feel free to edit/correct and add your own contributions! I made sheets until the final chapter (I think).
