Part 1
Handa-san is looking for advice from Shirokuma, wanting to learn more about Sasako-san, while Panda-kun cause trouble in their absence. XD Shirokuma is pretty evil here, making Handa-san treat him to all sorts of stuff for information.
I love Panda Mama. The home wife/middle aged woman parody is too funny. Other animal moms makes an appearance in this episode. I love the twist of having all roles played by male seiyuu!
New vocab: 海象 - せいうち - walrus
仕打ち - しうち - (poor) treatment; (bad) behavior; behaviour; action; act
壁面 - へきめん - surface of a wall (or sides of a bag in this case XD )
I also kind of wanna see a paper-craft version of Shirokuma Café!
Continuing into next weeks episodes, since I’m on a roll!
Episode 25 thoughts
Starting off, Shirokuma Café teaching us the difference between:
ニヤニヤ - grinning; smirking
ニコニコ - with a friendly grin; smiling
In this episode, Penguin-san is getting into the Fine arts! lol Get ready for some artsy parodies. XD
Also, this is just a suspicion on my part, but…since Penguin-san is this good at doing imitation art - might this how he supports his living and hanging out at cafés doing nothing daily?
In the second part we get a flashback of Grizzly and Shirokuma growing up together.
I’ve not got to that episode yet (on ep.21), and this is a new word for me. I can’t think of any other words that use えんじょう as a reading though.
Also Jisho’s 2nd meaning amused me: (stirring up a storm of criticism online) becoming the target of an Internet pitchfork mob
No idea if that has any relevance to the episode
Basically, Grizzly used the えんじょう expression elsewhere. Like もえるぜ! or something is sounds like to me. So, that’s why I went with that translation, but I’m still uncertain. Maybe I’m missing something? ^^’
Hoping you’ll get back on schedule and looking forward to your thoughts on these episodes! ^>^
Managed to get three episodes in over the weekend!
Now I need to catch up for this week, I can’t even remember which episode we’re supposed to be on
But you’re right! He’s just saying えんじょうぅぅ! えんじょうぅぅ!
(I guess: “I’m on fire!” or probably more: “I’m getting fired up!” Doesn’t seem to translate directly that well.)
And Shirokuma responds with: 燃えるぜ!
(I think, he may say a bit more, but saying along the lines of “I think he’s burning up” to Sasako.)
Episode 26 thoughts Part One
Full-time Panda is in trouble! Not only is his expanding family putting economic pressure on him, but there’s also a new panda in town! dun dun dun
Panda-kun is being himself and is just happy about the prospect of maybe being fired! XD
Vocab
内職 - ないしょく - side job (outside of one’s main employment)
派遣 - はけん - temporary employee (esp. from an agency)
リストラ - here used as a verb "リストラされる = to be laid off
(ristora from from corporate restructuring, so downsizing)
There’s a rather shocking revelation in this episode:
And here I thought they ate all their meal so people could watch them eat! XD I guess not!
Part two:
The wild animals are getting together at Grizzly the Bar or is it Bar the Grizzly? XD
in any case, does anyone know what the title is: sounds like Douzoukai, but didn’t get a hit on Jisho. I’m assuming kai is as in meeting and dou from similar or colleague or something (like doukyou?). I still don’t get it all and anyway, can’t spell it apparently.
vocab: 秘める - ひめる - to keep to oneself *
*this one feels odd also. I’d translate Grizzly’s comment as an objection to “searching to find yourself” with a “stay true to yourself”. But ひめる is for hiding and keeping away. So, what is Grizzly really saying?
There’s a shocking revelation # 2 also in this episode! Look forward to it and I’m looking forward to hearing your comments!
Oh, finally a reason for the baseball level in the Hell-levels! XD (or was that Death?). Well, baseball is huge in Japan, even if it’s tiny in Sweden. I learnt most of these terms while watching other anime, so it’s fine.
Ganbatte - everyone! XD
But, even we’re back to the meaning of えんじょうぅぅ! and now it’s read differently?Maybe, there’s something about this that needs looking into?
2nd Half: that train ride felt like a Ghibli reference
Episode 15
1st Half: I love Grizzly. He’s probably my favorite character in the show. Ah, he voiced Bruno Bucciarati in JoJo Part 5 and therefore Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen. I think I really have a type when it comes to voice preferences. Oh man, Penguin’s “eeeeeh!?!” in the same episode sounded so close to wrrrrry…
2nd Half: Aw, Penguin’s bouquet is made of the fish from the beach. Heh, he really messed up.
1st Half: Aw Grizzly, poor baby, thinking Shirokuma died. I love Shirokuma’s dramatic story of Grizzly helping helping the Fox restaurant owner.
2nd Half: This normie guy who finishes everything he orders is boring…
Episode 17
1st Half: Penguin and Grizzly bonding is adorable. Well that ended like many a drunk outing
2nd Half: A little yikes that the schoolgirl thought that the adult was taking her on a date
Episode 18
I loved the ed.
Episode 19
this op will drive me bonkers
1st Half: baby penguins even moar penguins :v
I think I’m going to sleep instead of watching the second half
Watched episode 31 last night, which means I’ve finally managed to catch up!
Past the halfway point now, it’s one of those shows were I don’t want there to be an end.
I’ve been updating the animal kanji list, and I think Capybara is my favourite kanji so far: 鬼天竺鼠
Demon India Mouse (おにてんじくねずみ)
Lost track of how many outro songs there’s been but ep.31 introduces the Llama outro!
It is now my favourite outro.
