Note this club is based on the originally published series. If you have the bis version the content will be mostly the same but there are differences in page numbers and chapter titles

Spoiler Courtesy
Please follow these rules to avoid inadvertent ネタバレ. If you’re unsure whether something should have a spoiler tag, err on the side of using one.
Any potential spoiler for the current week’s reading need only be covered by a spoiler tag. Predictions and conjecture made by somebody who has not read ahead still falls into this category.
Any potential spoilers for external sources need to be covered by a spoiler tag and include a label (outside of the spoiler tag) of what might be spoiled. These include but are not limited to: other book club picks, other books, games, movies, anime, etc. I recommend also tagging the severity of the spoiler (for example, I may still look at minor spoilers for something that I don’t intend to read soon).
Any information from later in the book than the current week’s reading (including trigger warnings that haven’t yet manifested) needs to be hidden by spoiler tags and labeled as coming from later sections.
Instructions for Spoiler Tags
Click the cog above the text box and use either the “Hide Details” or “Blur Spoiler” options. The text which says “This text will be hidden” should be replaced with what you are wishing to write. In the case of “Hide Details”, the section in the brackets that is labelled “Summary” can be replaced with whatever you like also (i.e, [details=”Chapter 1, Pg. 1”]).
Hide Details results in the dropdown box like below:
Example
This is an example of the “Hide Details” option.
The “Blur Spoiler” option will simply blur the text it surrounds.

Posting Advice
Don’t be afraid to ask questions, someone else might be struggling with the same thing you are and its a great opportunity to help each other out!
Please mention the page number and book version (orig or bis) if you’re asking help on a specific section so people can find it easily (or week number)
You can search to see if someone has already asked your question!
Do join in with the conversation even just to share your thoughts on the current chapters.
Don’t forget to set this thread to Watching to get updates on the discussion!
bis readers have this extra chapter (76) at the start of volume 4, so if you’ve already read it great, and if not you get to dunk on me the orig readers who don’t have it!
I also don’t need such a deep knowledge of coffee , but at least I realized that drip coffee doesn’t equal espresso! So I definitely prefer カフェオレ, as it’s milder.
My partner is really into coffee, so I’m using these chapters to impress him with coffee related facts - roasts, beans, how to serve, I’m developing an encyclopedic knowledge about coffee and I don’t even drink it
We’ve had some great ideas over this manga series imagining how these animals might live their lives in a human-like existence. But I think the idea of a panda wanting to wear mascara is one of the best ideas we’ve had so far!
This must be the climax of coffee related episodes
Two katakana words really surprised me (not spoiler) -
Ch 6 / bis 84
フリーター from フリーアルバイター someone subsisting on part time work
An amalgamation of the English free and the German Arbeiter worker (Arbeit / work, the same root for the abbreviation used in Japanese for part time work バイト). I love how they have taken two words from two different languages, given each a unique interpretation, and then just chopped out the middle part so you can’t even tell where it came from
ニート wow - from the acronym not in education employment or training
Woohoo, I’m in the same thread as everyone else now!
Week 1
I have to admit when the chapters are super coffee focused I look up fewer words and I’m just like okay it’s a long coffee making instruction… something something pour… something something beans… Got it
So I’ve felt like this manga has started to lose some of its sparkle recently, perhaps becoming a bit repetitive and not much in the way of fresh ideas. So I really enjoyed the Tai Chi chapter! I loved the drawings showing the panda (not sure which one) in their outfit doing the Tai Chi poses. And a great finish with the three of them in unison at the zoo!
I do that sometimes, then i try to impress my SO with my coffee facts and then when he asked what’s the difference between foamed and steamed milk I was like, hmmm I glossed over that…
Ch 11/bis 89
Loved the cute little wild boar that found panda
Ch 12 / bis 90
I was feeling the same way. And yes, loved this scene!!!
I had the same question
So I have no other choice but to google it.
More coffee trivia nobody asked for
As I understood they can be created with the same steam wand. For foamed milk you don’t sink the wand deep into the milk so the texture is more light and bubbly, and it takes more time.
