This was brilliant. Loved how the band at the beginning is just anthropomorphised Eudyptes penguins! They do look like punk rockers!

This club has been such a positive touchstone for me over the last year (!), and I appreciate you keeping up the posts through thick and thin, even as you’ve had a lot going on in your own life that disrupted your reading.
I bought the whole series pretty early on in my Japanese learning journey, and as the years went by (!) there wasn’t a good time to read them on my own even after I finally could read them. This series has been ideal as a club read.

No problem at all, I’ve really enjoyed having the club as well for pretty much the exact same reasons lolol, I bought the series years ago and never got around to reading them so it’s been lovely having the motivation through reading with other people

This was the first manga I started reading back in 2019 (although not the first one I finished). I enjoyed coming back to it and carrying on to finish the rest of the books.
I enjoyed the different directions the manga went in over time, and some minor characters becoming the focus of some of the story lines.
It lost a bit of its sparkle towards the end, and I was a little disappointed that we finished on some more minor characters, and not one last hurrah from our central cast.
But overall, a great read, and a lot of fun to read with you all!
It’s funny how a lot of people seem to get this series early in their JP journey

So now we’re armed with with vast knowledge of coffee and penguins and totally ready for japanese coffee shops and zoos 
I’ve finally finished albeit a tad late!
I’m so happy to have gotten through it having had the books for years but not making time to read them!
I thought it was great, though I agree it lost a little bit of sparkle at the end, a lot of volume 5 (orig) was lesson type chapters without many funny adventures which I liked from time to time previously but preferably not so often.
Still, I look forward to reading the follow up series one day
