oo I didn’t know the kanjis that made up kanji, I just know how to recognize the kanjis that make up kanji

I knew aka/akai is red but I haven’t been able to regonzie the kanjis when written but I understand aka/akai when spoken ykyk?

Ive never learn the kanji for Chinese :woozy_face: but i know how to say like
英国(イングランド) , インド, フランス, オーストラリア :person_bowing:

That would be 中国ちゅうごく, should be coming up on your WaniKani any day now!

That would be 英国えいこく, though that sounds quite formal maybe and the more common way to refer to the UK would be 英吉利イギリス, though the Kanji are seldom used in this case. 英蘭イングランド refers to the country England (again, highly rare Kanji usage).

You don’t have to use Kanji in many cases, but China is usually written in Kanji – 中国(ちゅうごく).

The remaining are イギリス、インド、フランス、オーストラリア. Kanji can be used, but more often newspaper / abbreviation words – 英(えい) UK, 仏(ふつ) France. Not sure of the last time I see 豪(ごう) Australia, and 印(いん) India, if ever at all.

When used with that meaning it is pronounced ふつ however.
Eg: 和仏辞典 (わふつじてん, japanese-french dictionary)

Other one kanji abbreviations I know are:
伊 Italy
独 Germany
露 Russia
西 Spain
米 US
泰 Thailand

Yes, I never saw 蘓 in Japanese either. It is a borrowing from Chinese 工 think.
