Your worst typos WaniKani has accepted

Scrolling through old posts and this thread had me giggling and kicking my feet bro. It felt like I was reading a Reddit post or something, I’m happy it’s still up :joy:

This is problematic right? Surely 経線 would be longitude lines?

Yeah, longitude and latitude are close enough to get the “close enough” but they’re wrong enough that I reckon they should be blocked (like “north” and “south” being mutually close enough).

満足 - meaning ‘satisifed’ accepts “dissatisfied” as a correct answer.

Thanks! I’ve added these to the block list.

This should mean “to try something out”, but it totally let me pass!

Hi there! I wanted to let you know that after looking into this suggestion, we agreed that “exception” should be added to the block list for 免除. Here are the exact changes we’ve made:
免除 (39) - Added “exempt” as an alternative meaning, added “exception,” “except,” and “exception” to the block list, moved “exclusion” to the warning list, added “exclude,” “excluding,” “excuse,” “excusing,” and “waiver” to the warning list, and updated the meaning explanation.

It does. Btw if you are ever curious about this again, try out my userscript that shows the hidden allowed answers.

Curious why you’re block listing “exception” here, rather than a warning list. Except/Exception is a word with more meanings than exempt/exemption for sure, but one of those meanings is a synonym for exemption. I guess there’s some conjugation asymmetry where “exempt” is sometimes equivalent to “except” and sometimes to “excepted”.

E.g. You can be granted an (exemption|exception) to a policy/rule/etc. (including military service, as in the Wanikani example sentence )

Here’s some thesauruses that list it as a synonym as a result

I think if you don’t want people extending it to all the other meanings of exception, the warning list makes more sense?

There’s no way… lol were you using a userscript? If not that’s crazy

Nah, only three letters are different. That’s close enough.
