I answered ‘good’ and it was accepted when it should be ‘root’.
If this is a mistake with the typo tolerance, it may be a problem the other way round too (although I haven’t actually seen it yet to test it)
@Mods what do you think?
I’m no mod, but I think “good” is the old name of the radical back before the Great Radical Renaming a few years ago, which means it’s still included as an invisible synonym.
Yes, that happens to be true now, but while I’m having some trouble coming up with the right search terms to determine exactly when the 良 radical was added (or named), it’s nevertheless true that prior to six years ago the radical currently named “root” was named “good”. As further evidence in favour when you search WaniKani for “good”, both radicals turn up.
(Unfortinately, 良 doesn’t show up in the Content Updates section of the forum prior to 2022, where the note on it is “Updated the meaning mnemonic”. That said, there was also an update back in 2021 which listed “added “good” to block list” [of the “root” radical], but considering it’s not blocked now, I guess it was removed again.)
i have nothing to contribute to this discussion, except welcome and may you make many posts in the future!
The root radical has good as an alternate in the allow list. I checked in Item Inspector.
Thanks for bringing this up!
I’ll check with the content team to see if ‘good’ has intentionally been left or not.
