I started learning Japanese in high school when I was 14. Back then, I just wanted to play more video games. It’s been about 24 years* and that’s still my main motivation! But I also want to be an artist, and it’ll help my art if I soak in more media that would be esoteric outside Japan. Anyone can get inspiration from Star Wars or the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but not many American artists in 2021 would be inspired by the トラック野郎 series.
*That sounds like a lot, but it’s been on and off. I’ve gone years without looking at anything Japanese.
Oh Idk man Japan seems cooler than China(No offense to Chinese people)cuz of some stuff(Funny stuff like anime, thier culture and Samurais I really like to be a Samurai and a lot about them) and thier technology.
I was watching Bakemonogatari, and the characters were talking about kanji and how they relate to the anime’s monsters and characters, and it sounded so cool! Of course that’s not all, but it did sparkle interest in me.
