「彼は靴を脱いで、階段を上った。」most Japanese thing ever.

Saikawa was actually pretty badass there. Too bad he’s kinda boring the rest of the time with zero hobbies or interests outside of his work.

Moe is his hobby

Is she though?? Most of the time he doesn’t show much interest in her either.

He devotes literally all of his free time to her! (approx. 5 min per month)

Haha I had a good chuckle on this one as well
Especially in an apartment house, I was a bit surprised about that too.

Equally the most Japanese thing ever  :woman_shrugging:

Anecdote: I have a Japanese language partner who currently works in Germany. He once told me that his coworkers would return home on the Fridays around 2pm, especially in summer, and he said, “What are they doing at home all the time?” - I was not sure whether I should laugh or cry… :flushed:

Don’t forget Saikawa’s #1 hobby: smoking.

I thought the prologue was pretty explicit that Terabayashi was not the murderer, but maybe there was just some tricky wording?

I’m also not sure I buy the similarity between finishing a model and killing a person, but I guess I like the book enough to let it slide.

oh wow, I did not expect it to be Terabayashi. I was so suspicious of the teacher, when Moe noticed that the apartment plate had his last name I was like “yes! I knew it!” …Unless there’s a twist and he’s actually still involved :eyes:

I like the 金子 screentime lately, seems safer for Moe to have someone around keeping an eye on her and her escapades. Moe going out on risky adventures sometimes makes me want to say “Moe, no!”

Just one chapter+epilogue left!
