I can’t believe we only have one book left in this series! MOE I’M COUNTING ON YOU, ONE LAST CHANCE TO FIGURE IT OUT BEFORE SAIKAWA, YOU CAN DO IT GIRL!!

Lost internet the past day or so and decided to just plow ahead, so not done yet but this also has week 8 thoughts

last week’s chapter was super weird. Kunieda got sass, Moe picked fights with everyone, we had to run through the atelier scene a second time (and i don’t think the infrared flashes were described very well in the sequence even in retrospect), Saikawa got really out of it, etc etc.

Kinda funny how Moe thought she got it, before Saikawa, but was completely wrong

Solution feels really boring. It was the most obvious suspect… he was just crazy… he was also able to run back and forth the night of the murder without anyone ever noticing… I had basically discounted him as a suspect after Kiyoto’s death since I didn’t think he’d have time to set it all up (and that wasn’t even accounting for the time to make the mold), and it was just handwaved with “actually he did”.

Having Kamikura murder Asuka instead of Terabayashi definitely makes the solution more palatable, but I don’t think it elevates it the same way the final twist of Illusion Acts Like Magic did

But that was again some stupid jealousy thing. Mori’s done this at least twice before when the murderer was a woman. It was because “jealousy”. That’s it. No further explanations needed. Nothing to justify why a seemingly perfectly normal woman would murder someone in cold blood. She thought the guy she liked was into another girl don’t you see??
