[Vocab] WaniKani Expansion Pack v1.0 - 1/13/2016 - Now on Memrise!

Ooooh I love this! I definitely want to try it out once I get my normal reviews in order (so behind ;-;). I might just wait until v1.0 since I’m so slow anyway.
Thank you for putting in all this work to make an expansion pack and sharing it with us! ヽ(・▽・)ノ

Gizmotech said... Breadstick, I recommend putting the non-joyo kanji vocab in its own level (or two) if you have enough of em. Mixing them into the levels where were supposed to know something will reduce processing time for a user if they get confused thinking they should know the kanji and don't.
Hi Gizmo,

Another user raised this issue and I uploaded a revised file without the non-joyo vocab. Did you find another example that I haven't removed yet? Please let me know if there's still a problematic item so I can move it!

Figured this could do with a bump :o

Yep, I’ve been meaning to post an update. Big thanks to the people who have been trying this out and especially those who found errors! I’ve made a fair number of changes and will need to replace even more vocab now that WaniKani added some overlapping vocab during the last update. I’m still on track to get the revised version out in mid February so stay tuned!

Wow this looks great c:

Posting to keep this on my user panel. Looking forward to this.

Tis is glorious! Thanks so much

Hello BreadstickNinja! Thanks for this! I decided to stop being lazy and get started, but I have done something wrong or am confused about how this is supposed to work.
I’ve only done two reviews so far, but both answers have been wrong and the revealed correct accepted answer is the same as the question. Image below:

I am being thick clearly, but can you explain how I am being thick please? I don’t think I missed anything in your instructions when I imported the deck… Or did I?

Anyone else can help too if they know what I did wrong! Thanks.

Ok, I just browsed the SRS items and I can see for all of them the meanings and readings are all listed as the same as the question (i.e. all in kanji)…

HELP!

Eskimo, when you imported your csv files did you make sure that under the Accepted meanings category it said ‘accepted meanings’ and not ‘kanji reading’? That is the only reason I can think of why all of them would be malfunctioning in that manner. I would also check the original csv file and see if the proper meanings are listed there. If they are correct on the csv, it must be an issue in how they were imported.

Ok, I’m going to try uploading again…

Yay! Thanks.
Simple instructions, Jo.... (¬_¬)

@BreadstickNinja have you thought about using a version control system - something like https://github.com/?

Then people can fork their own copies to do whatever they wish too, or create pull requests with corrections - and then you can use the magic buttons to just merge those in with almost no effort on your part.

Hey Breadstick!
Any update on the final version of this?
Thanks so much for all the hard work ^-^

Why did I see this just now!!! Omg… ok but its 4am here and i’m on my mobile so i’ll have to come check it tomorrow but only reading the first post was veeeeery promising

We’re in April, any updates on this??

Yes, I should do an update post soon. I’ve done a bunch of work cleaning up the deck but I still have a ways to go before I’ll have another version. I’ve been working on a different deck of items I’ve found while reading different sources so I want to make sure they’re included if they’re relatively common. I also have a number of frequency lists from various sources like Wikipedia and want to make sure I’m including more common items where possible instead of things that might be more obscure. So it’s still a work in progress, but I hope to turn my attention back to it soon with what I’ve learned from other projects!

Thank you for the update and your willingness to share this with everyone. Much appreciated!
