[Userscript] Wanikani Item Inspector

Thanks for your kind words. And yes, Item Inspector is meant to be used in tandem with Self Study Quiz.

Version 1.20.0 is out - Download it at the link in the top post.

This version supports rendaku information for vocabulary.

  • By default, if you have pitch info configured mousing over the pitch info shows up rendaku info in a popup.

  • You may configure rendaku to show up when you mouse over the items characters instead. Then the stroke order popup would show up when you mouse over pitch info.

20! That’s impressive

It will stop there. I don’t have ideas on how to push it further. Future versions will be bug fixes.

I’m trying to export my WaniKani deck to Anki, but upon clicking the Export button, I’m presented with this error: ā€œThe first column is not exported. Please configure your export settings.ā€ I feel that the error isn’t clear and doesn’t tell me what I need to do to fix the problem. Could someone please help?

Some information is in the top post under these headings:

export

To summarize the export function requires you configure your table for export in the export tab. Among other thing you need to specify which information you want to export in the export columns. This has not been done, hence the error message.

Version 1.20.1 is out - Download it at the link in the top post.

This is an improvement to the error message for unconfigured exports.

Wow, that was fast! Thanks a bunch for the help.
I’m wondering if this feature is viable to export my current progress from WaniKani to Anki. This seems suitable for importing the cards, but can you import the progress too?

I don’t know what you mean by ā€œprogressā€ so I am not sure. You can export what you want to Anki as long as the data is in Item inspector and there is a field for it on the Anki side. You should check how to define fields in Anki. Perhaps the ā€œprogressā€ should be mapped to the ā€œnoteā€ field. Sorry I am not an Anki expert so I can’t help you more than this.

Version 1.20.2 is out - Download it at the link in the top post.

This is a bugfix. Now the advanced search will properly report the match type in the popups.

Feature Request

I think it would be nice to be able to export your settings so that if you switch computers, or wanted to back up your settings (in case of a crash etc) you could. I created quite a few custom tables/filters on my old computer and have since switched to a new one. Would be nice to just import settings rather than have to hand roll them again. Unless, this is already a thing and I just missed it?

No I don’t have a setting import/export feature. I will think about it.

Hello, dear sir and I want to express my deep gratitude for your great work again!

Still, I just discovered one issue that bugs me. I’m trying to list all my resurrected items, so I turn on this thing:
image
(and then I was going to add SRS-stage filter including all stages but Burned) but this option halts Inspector and it doesn’t update the table. I can switch to another tables and they’re working cool, but this alone option just happen to do something nasty with the script.
Am I alone? Or doing something wrong on my behalf?

Thank your very much for this script!

Honestly, it is overwhelming how much functionality is there. I was afraid I’ll have to read documentation  But I was able to get what I wanted, namely download csv after a little nudge from UI about configuring the columns. I understand that I barely scratched the surface, but I like when the system self explains.

Thank you for your kind words.

I am well aware there is more functionality in Item Inspector than most people can use. I have done my best to make the script self-explaining AND have meaningful documentation.

Here is a tips: I have organized the doc by topics and each topic is hidden in a hide details tag. You may just browse what is in there and expand the details only the topics you are interested in. This way you will get a feel of what is in Item Inspector without wasting your time reading doc on stuff you don’t plan to use.

This is driving me mad. I can’t install the stroke order font (even though Mac tells me that it’s installed this in the font book), and I can’t get rid of the prompt to install it.

I’ve unchecked ā€œshow stroke order popupsā€ box in all of the tables. I’ve restarted the browser a couple of times. And still I get the prompt.
