Just found this script randomly. It’s fantastic! Thank you Ethan!
I had to change the speed to 30 because it was too fast. I was worried that I wouldn’t recognize the handwritten kanji but I just tried it out on a small batch and I was still able to recognize them
I’m glad it still works, I haven’t looked at it for a while.
Ahh, amazing! Tysm!
One of the dependencies, kanjiSvg.js, was deleted from GreasyFork.
Okay hopefully that will fix the dependency issue. Apparently I ran afoul of GreasyFork’s policy on external scripts by using a rawgit.com url in my dependency. Rawgit is shutting down everything soon anyway so attention here was inevitable.
I have moved the dependency to jsDelivr, which conforms to GreasyFork’s list of whitelisted urls.
If anyone is having issues with this or any of my scripts, let me know.
Thanks.
Just added the script and I think it’s really cool.
Something I would like to personally see, should you update it would be the option to keep the original text but move it to the side, or have both texts side by side centred.
But overall, it’s very useful and convenient.
Thanks, now that I’m back at it I’m looking at refining most of my scripts, as well as making shortcut keys more visible.
could you add a keyboard shortcut to replay the animation? maybe shift + up, so it’s close to the other controls?
Hey, thank you so much for this wonderful extension! I’ve been using it for about a month now. Although it is a week since it has stopped working, any idea why? It helped me a lot because I find it easier to remember kanji when I write them.
I’ll look into it on the weekend.
thank you!
Did you have any chance to give it a look? It’s still not working sadly, also tried to make it work on chrome but no way. Sorry to disturb.
That’s okay, I did get it working for myself, but not on the weekend that I said I would (like a couple days after).
I think the problem was related to resource dependencies and theorized that revisiting the websites ‘woke them up’.
However, I will look at making it more robust THIS weekend, possibly using WKOF. I’ll try to check in more often.
Sorry I didn’t find the time. It is on my mind though.
When an item comes up it looks like this and I have to click the middle of the screen for it to go back to normal and the animation to play. What gives?
Also the strokes write too fast and I couldn’t find a way to lower the speed. : P
(I also kinda wanna make it white)
I’m not sure, maybe it’s something with Firefox. I’ll have a look at it this week probably.
I use chrome myself and I don’t always check how my scripts behave on other browsers.
I’ve updated it to draw white. I’ll look into adding settings to make changing the speed more user friendly.
I’m guessing the script is in maintenance mode - I installed it, and my lessons crashed after a few animations. I see “undefined” errors in the code, and I don’t like to mess with other people’s stuff, so I’ll wait a bit and reinstall it later. Thanks for the build, and I look forward to trying again!
If you have suggestions I’m always open to improvements.
Which browser and userscript handler are you using?
What does the console say when the undefined errors come up?
Are you running any other scripts?
Thanks for the feedback.
Hello! Thanks for getting back to me. I’m using Chrome and have three other scripts installed:
I used Greasyfork/Tampermonkey for the installs (although IIRC, one of the scripts wasn’t directed through Greasy fork).
Don’t have the error in front of me now, but it showed a little yellow warning triangle only a few lines in. I’ll reinstall and check when I have a chance; just started summer vacay, so I’m on my phone for the next few days. (I only have the scripts running on my PC.)
