It’s working now, thank you very much.
I figured it had to be one of the 2 recent updates.
I am thinking about perhaps adding an option to make Back To Back only work when you answer an item correctly. If you answer it incorrectly, it goes back into the active queue.
Does that sound like a good solution?
Given how native WK works, I think that’s probably the best solution.
If I could redesign the system just for my own learning style, I’d put both questions (reading and meaning) on the same card, and you’d submit your answers as a pair. Then, if you get anything wrong, the whole item would come back again later in the queue, and you would enter both reading and meaning again.
I have to admit that I don’t have a clue how the active queue actually works, since I have been using reodering since like forever. Does that mean an incorrectly answered item would come back after a fixed number of other items? Or that it comes back after a random amount of items but could also come again right away?
What I am trying to avoid is to see an incorrectly answered item again too soon or too late, so any solution that could lead to that wouldn’t be too good for me at least. But seeing it again after a fixed number of other items would be pretty sweet, if it would be in the range of somehing like 5-15 .
Wanikani uses an active queue which always contains 10 items. The next item to review is always picked from those 10 items. I’m not sure exactly how it works now that things have changed, but its purpose is to shuffle items so that you don’t get an item right away after answering it once. So if you fail an item you should see it again around 10 items later, I think.
So I did just test it out with back to back disabled and had one occasion where it gave me the meaning of an item right after getting the reading wrong, which could probably happen with back to back enabled as well, when implementing the active queue system with it. On another occasion I got the same item again after only one other item which would be a bit to fast for my taste too.
So for me, reliying on the active queue wouldn’t be ideal but for people being used to it, it will probably be fine. And I can still use reorder ultimate 2’s force reorder button to send items back again, for as long as it continues to work.
The new update does seem to break reordering for me when back-to-back mode is enabled. Items are shown back-to-back, but other than that nothing is reordered regardless of preset. Is this intended and if so is there a possible workaround? For now I’ll just use the use the previous update for reordering.
I’ll have to think about it. The reason is that WK now shuffles the active queue. The rest of the queue is still ordered, so items will enter the active queue in order, but will then be shuffled.
The update probably hasn’t reached you yet, and that’s why the old version is still working for you. But if you try it on the preview you’ll see that the active queue is shuffled
I think it should be a simple fix. I think I will just need to update the active queue to reflect having changed the current item
I have not been able to replicate this. I’m not sure if other scripts might be affecting the active queue? Perhaps you could see if it happens without all those other scripts enabled? Oh, and update first, please
Ok, it should be fixed again. Please try 1.0.18
edit: oops, fix only applied to reviews. Should apply to everything in .19
I’ll have to check in 2 hours, I just finished all my reviews and next hour I’m not getting enough to check with, so I’ll have to check later ![]()
I just tried it again (with 1.0.19). I had a total of 17 Rad/Kanjis and got my first Vocab after only fully completing 8 of those (with some radicals still remaining. This time I didn’t disable all my other scripts, though I know I did do that before and still ran into some issue. It’s weird though because I’m not even having consistent issues >.< Since last time it was straight vocabulary (though I did have less kanji/vocab in the stack). My next big review with a lot of Kanji+radicals will be in 20 hours, so i can test anything else out with screenshots and disabling other scripts if you’d like! Definitely weird that it’s not even replicable… even with myself >.<
- Do you have back to back enabled? (you don’t need to, just asking)
- Did you have the remaining 9 rad/kan partially answered at that point?
- Can you put this in the console (F12 → console) and tell me if it’s true or false?
I’m not sure if it’s enabled for everyone yet
WaniKani.features.reviewsPresentationOrder
If it helps, I just tried using the preset that @pielova372 had posted:
It correctly showed my 6 kanji reviews first, followed by 4 of my lowest SRS vocab. But after that, the next 2 vocab were burns even though I still had remaining Apprentice/Guru.
- b2b enabled
- nothing partially answered
- true
Were you using v.1.0.19?
yeah 1.0.19
Maybe a slightly strange request, but if you have time at some point might you be able to look at adding a setting to disable the Reorder part of Reorder Omega?
Now that the devs have added Burned Items to the extra study I’d rather not have Omega slowing down the loading as much as possible, but still use its burn bell and random voice actor settings. Might it be possible to make a setting which would just completely disable the reordering/presets part?
Understandable if not because of it being complicated, just wanted to ask in case. Thanks!
Those are also available as separate scripts. You can find them in my list here
