[Userscript] auto-commit; the end of the enter key

Thank you!

For anyone else who is thinking about trying something like this (it may have been user error but) commenting out line 85 wasn’t doing the trick for some reason. But commenting out line 83 and typing slowly does the trick.

If you plan to do this though, for whatever reason you need to a short pause between the last two keystrokes of your answer (ひこう・・・き, airplan…e) or it skips to the next question as was originally intended by the script. Additionally, to view the “extra information” click the button rather than pressing the keyboard shortcut E, otherwise it will skip to the next question.

Running with the updated version of double check released today, everything works just like it used to now!

Looks like the last update was 7 days ago so not sure everything is fixed. Why would double check help auto commit? Are they related somehow?

where did you find this update :0, I have the same issue as Sage, don’t see any new update and still have the shake and fail question with quick typing :frowning:

Sorry for letting you all wait so long, but last week was quite busy for me.

I have updated the code, such that the “shake and fail” behavior when typing fast should not happen anymore. Also it should work better with Lightning Mode Double Check now.

Thank you! What’s the problem with user synonyms btw? Did they change how they are stored or something and can’t get access to them in the same way?

Yes, you are right. The place where synonyms are stored was changed during the update:

I just asked in that thread if there is a good way to retrieve the synonym information for each subject. If you (or someone else) has any idea how to do that or want to dig in that - I would appreciate any help here

you are the best! thank you so much

Ya wish I knew more about how the elements are stored in javascript so I could help. I tooled around in chrome dev tools for a bit to no avail. I also got the quicktyping fail again just now

Going to set var click_threshold = 1; again as that did the trick per bigsnail’s recommendation.

Another update. This time the user-defined synonyms work again

So hyped to do my review this morning!
Synonyms working great. Still getting quicktyping errors so still adding var click_threshold = 1;

I have tested on Chromium and Firefox and could not replicate that error anymore. Do you have any user scripts that might interfere? But I am glad to hear that it works for you by modifying the variable click_threshold

I am using chrome and linked my other scripts a few posts up. It’s possible!

Not sure if this is an issue with this script or if it’s related to something else, but auto-commit stopped working with my custom definitions for words. Sometimes I’ll have an abbreviation for a long string of words that I don’t want to type (like “ldp” for “liberal democratic party”), or just a definition for a word that WK decided not to include and auto-commit used to pick those up but it no longer does (after the UI update to WK a few weeks ago). My answers are still accepted when I press enter, but it’s weird when I’m expecting to get an answer right and auto-commit just doesn’t take it.

In the most recent version it should pick up the user-defined synonyms. Can you confirm that you installed version 0.4.6 of auto-commit?

That said, the WK developers mentioned, that the way how synonyms are handled in the backend might change at any time, so this feature is rather prone to breaking. I’ll check later if it currently still works on my end.

Hello! In the past, there was a little button in the lower corner to disable this quickly. Was this removed? Or is it removed because of Lighting Mode in Double Check?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for reporting  It seems like the Wanikani frontend was changed a bit, such that the button got hidden. I updated the code to version 0.4.7, such that the button is now shown again in the footer.

With the new update to Lessons, the Auto Commit script no longer works in Lessons.

The lessons URL has been changed to wanikani.com/subject-lesssons

I added this URL to the userscript. The updated version v0.4.8 now works on the lessons page as before.
