One positive change with the new code is that accessibility and theming will be much easier to support going forrward.
At least, it’s directionally positive (the foundational groundwork is being laid, but not everything has been wired up yet – to mix metaphors).
Specifically, they are now starting to use custom properties (“CSS variables”) behind the scenes which will make it easier to change colors based on users preferences (constrast settings and the like).
FWIW - a themed example
This is using a dev version of the WKElementaryDark theme with my preferred color overrides.
It’s a little bit garish, but from a UX perspective, it’s been working quite well for me.
I’m not color blind, but I am quite nearsighted with lots of floaters and age-related vision issues, and have grown to love “dark mode” themes. It works great for me on a mac.
