What happens if someone were to type 1000? Does it go through due to the typo grace system?

I know it was a little early to rethink doing this the way the other thread is (very popularly) suggesting, but poking around I just realized something, correct me if I have this wrong. Now that you don’t teach や on this kanji for example (it’s on the page as onyomi for an alternative, sure) but よる, people now proceed to vocab 今夜, 徹夜, and 深夜, all of which in their description say some variation on “you already know how to read this” because they were made for when the onyomi was what you taught.

Am I missing something here or is this a complete lack of foresight? You updated 夜 to say you already know the reading but what about these?

Thanks for catching that! We already had the content for 今夜 prepared, so I’ve updated it along with updating this page. We’ll take a look at 徹夜 and 深夜 soon, too! Thanks again!

Another odd choice along with 明 considering most of the vocab require や for the reading. :durtle_stabby:

Just confirmed that 1000 will be marked incorrect.

What about 100,000? It’s also off by one digit.

Thank you for double-checking! Returned incorrect as well!

trying to say this in the least snarky way possible, but it seems like you’re not properly planning out some updates if you change a kanji’s reading without looking at its vocab

This is annoying AF and already got burned a couple of times by those changes (and I’m only on lvl8!)

I do wish that one could opt-out of constant changes as it starts to result in kinda schizophrenic experience

Previously there was “one time cut out” and one would opt-out to migrate to new/updated content but could stay with the old one and keep trudding along. Now things start to break constantly when it comes to cross-referencing items like aforementioned: “you already know this one”

Again: if there is no plan to give opt-out of the updates then at least please give us an option to reset progress on the items that we already learned and which meaning was changed…

Or just stick to teaching on’yomi / kun’yomi and be done with it…

But…

Why change this in the first place?

Is everything going to change to Kun’yomi, or only just enough so you never know which reading is which?

Sorry, but I came here to learn Kanji and these changes are very frustrating.

Yoru is a vocabulary word, not a kanji reading. You learn yoru shortly after in the vocabulary section anyways, so what’s the point of this change? All you’re doing is removing on’yomi reinforcement to teach the vocabulary twice. The on’yomi “ya” is used commonly in vocabulary. You’re just making it harder for learners to recognize that.

FFS… please kindly (ASAP!) add option to reset the items (Reset learned items when they are updated (reading!)) because with so many updates recently it’s getting somewhat schizoprenic at this point :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

EDIT: Wasn’t the vocabularu using “your night” mnemonic? What was wrong with it?!
