good things!
this article was the laziest I have ever seen on nhk easy news ![]()
I dunno about lazy, but it’s certainly… concise. ![]()
Discovered there’s an article about it in my city’s newspaper too, and that one’s somewhat longer… and also mentions the fact that he’s sharing the prize with an Aussie and an American. Though, the non-easy NHK article mentions that too.
It definitely feels like they shifted away from producing web-specific articles in favor of uploading the radio show scripts… which is unfortunate, but better than nothing I guess.
I was trying to look up an article from the old site to compare, but the Wayback Machine seems to struggle with that URL.
New simple news service from Asahi Shimbun: https://yasashii.asahi.com
It bugs me that it’s called “yasashii asahi”. Why not just “yasahi”? ![]()
Thanks for linking that! I’m too lazy to get a vpn for NHK
There’s an article on Fuji-san’s first snow this year. It’s super short but under the article there is a nice blurb defining some Japanese words about snow that i liked

I didn’t know where 甲府 was and found this lovely tourism site if anyone needs a virtual holiday
I’d like to join in in theory but we’ll see how long it lasts lolol
A wildly short article that was pretty easy so that’s nice
I too use “sorry” a lot ![]()
Pretty easy article, I do think it’ll be cool when we have actual commercially available robots but I kind of doubt this one is that fantabulous yet, I’ve seen too many videos of them falling over and freaking out lmao
I think I heard about something similar happening in Rome a while ago but maybe I’m misremembering.
Only looked up 大使館 and the rest was understood, it did say it was N5 ranked though
I think I read that, too. I do remember when I visited ages ago (like a literal age
) that I thought, huh you have to watch yourself here. Seemed like accident prone people should stay well away from edges and heights.
Today I learned about French culture in Japanese.

I didn’t know there was a special wine you can only buy from the third Thursday in November
Well, guess I’m joining… Been wanting to build this habit lately, but keep forgetting about it
Articles read:
Yessss join ![]()
I thought this would be more interesting but it basically concluded he is indeed in Japan just as the headline says
Well I guess I’m here too now. I read about Yamagata-ken being picked by National Geographic as one of the 25 places to go in 2026. One of the reasons they picked it was because it wasn’t plagued by overtourism, but for how long now, National Geographic?!?
I started with the Yasashii Asahi article (top) and then moved to the big girl article that I had no problems reading with only a few lookups.. what!? Has all my JLPT reading study been paying off?
I also read that article, and had the same thought ![]()
I wish we’d do that, I can’t be doing with the soggy straw
Finally found an N2 (according to Todaii) article that is hard, but not HARD:
My comprehension was partial on a first listen (with text), bc I’m missing vocab… but it seems like it will be easy enough once I sit down to read and look things up
Usually the articles in their N2 section feel like a foreign language… So it’s nice to find one that is merely a little beyond my level
Also me today!
what!? Has all my JLPT reading study been paying off?
