I agree! We kind of locked ourselves in early on, and the technology at the time / our skill level at the time made that kind of thing pretty difficult. But, it’s the kind of thing we are thinking about now and something I’d like to make happen. We’ve been untangling the ball that was our code base for a while, now, but I (hope) we’re not getting over that hump and into the fun stuff.

That is the plan. 
They are “mulligans” — if you miss a day, you use an offering (automatically) and it doesn’t reset your streak. You get your offering back after 7 days. If you miss a day when you don’t have any offerings left, your streak resets.

Actually, we removed burned from that view for that reason. That big ol’ bar on the right is your Enlightened Level items! Not sure what else we can do to deal with the height of the bars in the graph, but if you have any ideas please let me know!

Not planned, but that would be certainly be fun / interesting! Not sure how we’d do that, either. Would have to have that conversation with engineering. I wouldn’t plan on anything like this soon, though. I am interested if developers will use the widget rows / spots for widgets, so they fit right in. That’d be cool. I also have some plans for widgets that would have some community involvement, though would have to wait until the dust settles here. And, totally different angle than what you’re thinking.
Is the Wanikani team fine with the TamperMonkey/GreaseMonkey people trying to find a way of creating and inserting their own widgets for the board? I already have some fun widget ideas I would like to try making, but I can imagine that it might be desirable to have a stable dashboard for most users in this feedback phase. I’m assuming that having a way to officially submit community widgets to Wanikani might be too much of an unstable headache anyway.
Please include these thoughts in your philosophical discussions:
- You created Burn Items with the intention that we no longer needed to review these items.
- But yet you created the option to review these Burned Items.
- You did so in a way that was impractical to really use the review of these items in an efficient manner that would allow us to continue reviewing those items that we feel would benefit us.
- You seem to now agree with the impracticality of how you implemented the review of Burned Items, but are concerned with “how reviews are handled and progress is made…
So, my thoughts are: if you agree on the need for continued review of Burned Items and the need to improve how we can efficiently review those items that we feel we need to review, what is the concern with:
A. “how reviews are handled” - giving us the choice to review what we want is how it would be handled and how it would benefit us.
B. “progress is made” - by your original methodology, ‘progress’ stopped upon an item being burned and the way forward was for us to see and use in the real world of literature and media. So, if you agreed with additional reviews in the past, why is ‘progress’ a concern now? You implemented a means for us to continue to review burned items, so was ‘progress’ not a concern then? So why would allowing us to efficiently review burned items that we feel the need to review, a hindrance to progress now?
I said it before, I love WK, I like your new dashboard…so my comments on this matter is just for continued improvement of your product which, I hope, you will NEVER stop! 
As much as I initially reacted with horror. In general I really like the update.
My one request would be, a version of the item spread widget that looks like the one on the profile screen.
@koichi I like the “total days studied” widget a lot, but is there a way to show it from my reset? I started in 2014 but I didn’t use wanikani for a few years and reset back to the beginning in 2013.

The old version made it easy to see your progress. Now, I have to worry whether it is functioning properly. I’ve been all week at my current level and am not showing any kanji progress. It doesn’t make sense. Is anyone else having this issue?

Let’s not. I DO NOT want to disable the Burned Items function. It serves it’s purpose and I agree with it. I’m simply saying if WK is going to give us the option to review Burned Items, then let’s do it in a manner that will actually be useful for us.
As it is, if anyone has to go thru thousands of items just to get to those that they want to review, then I imagine the vast majority of people won’t do it! I don’t! So why even have it?
But if they give us the option to select what we want to review, then I would use it!
Love the new dashboard. Please consider adding a stroke order widget. (The script breaks from time to time, which is a hassle. I end up pasting the kanji into Jisho.org)
I use 24 hours time and had a script to change the review forecast to 24 hours. The script is now broken. I’d really like the ability to change it with a setting, please! Not everyone uses AM/PM.
No one has said a reply to this so I’m bringing it up again in case it was missed. Please, can we have a 24 hr clock option for the review forecast. AM/PM is an eyesore. Not everyone uses the North American format.

I’m sure you’ve got enough feedback from the live beta testing 
from users on the New Dashboard and features, that you will “consider loud and clear” to allow for a better learning experience.
To quote the main WaniKani page: “From Japanese residents to self learners, our members learn to read Japanese quickly”
The changes that have implemented through the New Dashboard, layouts, Kanji tiles (sizing), lack of lists, etc seem to detract from learning effectively.
Please do not let our feedback/comments go to waste on what should be a great learning tool.
