How have you been?

Well, covid deleted my social life, but I got to read a metric eff ton of books, so I guess nothing of value was lost.
Well, I have now seen people who are reading multiple books in a single day, every day, so I’m not reading that much compared to them, but still.

How have you been?

I’m down for some recommendations

Good, thanks, after years and years of struggling with lots of issues I can finally say I’m doing fine to an extent. You know, adulthood is like and endless list of “to do” things, so… we keep moving in what seems to be forward, right?

Good to see you. Also, have a hug

My default recommendation will always be 本好き, but I can provide more, if you have specific interests.

That’s great! I’m glad to hear that!
Have a hug too!

I’m sorry things didn’t go as you hoped, but I’m glad you’re doing well now. I haven’t been to Japan yet either, and I was also considering doing an exchange there when I was studying physics… now my spouse is terrified of flying, so who knows when I’ll go. Hopeful you’ll get that scholarship this time, that would be awesome

Woah didn’t even notice that you already asked @Ninkastmin “how have you been” above my post. huh.

I get 本好きの下剋上 looking that up, is that it?

science, science fiction, history… just tell me what you like, most likely I’m gonna be interested.

And to not feel that I’m asking and not giving anything back, I starting reading the first book of Dune, (surprisingly good book) also the “Selfish gene” and I believe that book was were the term “meme” was coined, I think you should check it out if you haven’t already of course.

Other than that I’m currently quite hyped with the “manga guide to…” series, i started reading the one about lineal algebra and I think it provides actually really good explanations.

thank you, Kumi-chan ^^
we’ll see how it goes… maybe next year I’ll be dinning out with Leebo, hahaha

Well, I’m sure the opportunity will come in its own time

That’d be amazing

Yes, that’s the one.

There’s been a few SF books I enjoyed recently, but, fair warning, they are in Japanese (because, well, I’ve been only reading in Japanese for the last couple of years) and they are hard.

I think the second one has been translated?

I have read both of those books :stuck_out_tongue:

I really liked Dune, but I got a bit confused with the later books (I was reading them from the library at the time, but the volume I was looking for was never available and I was to shy to make a reservation at the counter, so I read everything else pretty much out of order, which didn’t really help… especially since the world features a (I think it’s explained early on in volume 1? but spoiler warning just in case) resurrection mechanism, so if someone who was supposed to be dead is alive, I didn’t know if I was reading backwards or if they were legitimately brought back, haha)

That sounds nice as an introduction to a field.

This somehow didn’t surprise me, haha

Yes, I think you’re refering to the Ghola used I believe in Duncan Idaho.

Thanks for the recommendations, already in the bucket list
