Thanks Wani. Those squiggles are starting to make sense

I visit my parents in law in Japan every 1-2 years, and 2 years ago I decided to start learning Japanese. While I’ve been doing a lot of non-wani work, over the last year I’ve managed to hit wani level 33. I’ve now gone from knowing about 50 kanji to more than a thousand, and man is my life more pleasant the last 2 weeks.

Just the simple joy of being able to read a restaurant menu makes such a big difference. Just thanks, and I’m hoping to be level 60 by the next time I visit.

This is wonderful to hear, and I passed it on to the rest of the team!

I’m a much lower level, but I feel the same. The hit rate is pretty high even just on the ~450 kanji I’ve guru’d. Some days I feel like I can read the matrix code.

I mean that almost literally. Apparently the glyphs we see in the film were based on Japanese sushi recipes.

First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to stop and share! I love hearing good news, and this is great news! I am sure your wife and parents in-law will also appreciate the fact that you are putting in the time and effort to learn their language. Please do come back and share your successes with the rest of us! Such stories may also have the effect of encouraging others to keep on persisting on their language journeys.
