Recently started WaniKani, and just unlocked 玉. The description of Tama receiving a drop from the king formed a particular image in my mind, so after looking for some existing artwork I instead spend some time trying to get AI to generate an image that closely matched my idea of her.
And so, I give you: Tama, WaniKani’s resident ball girl, out and about collecting balls. That’s her job, after all.
Okay, this is so cute! The story of Tama also really helped me remember this kanji from the get go. I love that she’s got onions in her basket as well given she’s also in たまねぎ! Glad she doesn’t seem to have any eyeballs in her basket (though I guess technically it’s her strange sister Dama in that one …)
As a side note, I may actually try doing this for any of the kanji/vocab that I struggle to remember. An actual visual representation could work where my brain can’t picture it on its own.

Yea, the stories help a lot! I might end up making more in the future. Having a picture like that helps making it stick! (Or maybe it’s just the time spent on fiddling with the AI to get a good image. Hmm…)
