WaniKani is slow going but I feel like I’m learning a lot!
Did you already get your first kanji lessons?
That’s right! Better than fast-going but not learning much, eh?
Don’t worry. It gets far less slow going soon enough. Enjoy this time while you can.
you’ve been here for five minutes.
bruh
They’ve been on the forums for (then) 5 minutes. They have already gurued their radicals
I’ve been here a while.
I actually used WaniKani about 6 months ago and fell off the study wagon. I’m starting over with a new account.
Good luck this second time!
Welcome back
Thank you so much!
If you ever feel the need to reset in the future, there is an option under Account Settings → Danger Zone.
I definitely feel like I am moving a bit too slowly. It’s all worth it though and I see it as a journey, not a race. Even level 7 is incredibly useful to my third year studies.
It’s just my opinion, but just going through your review pile slowly is a better way to deal with that kind of situation then resetting.
If the problem is only high review pile then yes, just stop lessons and do reviews slowly. If the problem is forgetting old items, then resetting is the better solution.
My thinking on this is that I can just relearn the item during reviews, then let the SRS do the work. You can see the info text when you get the item wrong after all
That works in theory. But if you have thousands in your review pile (and don’t use the reorder script), and you re-learn a forgotten item during a normal review session, you might see that item again days or even weeks later, instead of 4 hours later like after a lesson. By that time you will have forgotten it again, and the cycle continues.
Maybe, but by repeated exposure you will eventually remember it, but maybe that’s just my opinion.
I think resetting is a bit extreme in most cases. I might suggest using something like the WaniKani Self-Study Quiz plugin to give yourself a manual review of apprentice items.
