Thank you for sharing this. I still get them wrong most of the time in my reviews 
織 I can get right pretty easily because of the thread radical, but 職 and 識 trip me up every time. My brain associates employment more with speaking than listening, and being discerning more with listening than speaking… 
I also see 耳 as a reception counter desk.
Not sure what to say about 言. Smart talker, displaying their discerning power, maybe?
Someone who KNOWs need to talk more.
An employee usually LISTEN to the boss.
That’s what I used. But I think the original mnemonics were so engraved into my head, these two kanjis are some of the ones I almost never forgot.
