I did it! I finally did it! A year and 13 days after resetting to level 46, I finally reached level 47 again!
This morning, I didn’t feel up to WK and quit after only two minutes. In the afternoon, I didn’t get started until 5:42 and didn’t think I’d be able to get through my target of 100 reviews since I have a rule about not doing WK after 6pm. However, I rushed through as fast as I could and somehow made it through 100 reviews in only 16 minutes, and with 84% accuracy to boot.
However, I was even more shocked when I went back to the WK dashboard and saw 57 lessons awaiting me, indicating that I’d somehow leveled up. I never expected it to happen like this or this quickly. I’d been stuck at two kanji remaining for the last eight days, and I figured it would take a long time for the first kanji to randomly come up, and then even longer still for the second kanji and the level up. But somehow, two different level kanji came up together right near the end of the session, so I leveled up out of nowhere without even noticing.
Anyway, it was after 6pm, but I didn’t want to neglect the new pile of lessons after leveling up, so I broke the usual rule and powered through all 57 lessons in 20 minutes (6:02-6:22), barely paying attention. I’m sure I won’t remember most of them, but oh well. I’ll learn them eventually, one way or another. It’s funny how a few of the kanji seem incredibly obvious due to being parts of common words that I already know, while the rest seem hopelessly obscure. In fact, one of the new words (眺め) confused me, because I felt like I’d been reviewing it all along this last year. I could have sworn it even came up in my leech lists before. I couldn’t believe that it was actually on level 47 in WK.
Incidentally, the 57 new lessons I did tonight also makes this probably the first time in a very long time that my Apprentice count actually went up.
