Hello, welcome to my study log!
About Me
I started learning Japanese about a year ago, when I was sick at Christmas and too tired to do much outside. I made good progress on WK until about June, then got too busy with my dissertation and neglected my Japanese study for a while… took some time clear my reviews slowly, but I’m getting back into it now!
I also started genki I at the same time as everything else, but dropped it and decided to wait until I had more vocab under my belt. I’m currently tackling it again though! (Currently partway through lesson 3). Overall I think any progress is good, so I’m happy taking my time though maybe not quite as slowly as this year lol.
Motivations
- I’d like to be able to read books in Japanese
- I’m planning to visit Japan within the next couple years, so I’d like to be able
Current Goals
- continue working through WK, getting level-up time down to a reasonable amount
- I also want to get through Genki I by the end of March
Future Goals
- Get all of N5 grammar down, then start spending more time immersing to get more confident
- I’d like to take part in the ABBC!
- Once I have more grammar I’d like to focus more on production, specifically speaking (possibly via HelloTalk and/or iTalki, need to do more research on this)
Current Resources
- Wanikani
- Genki I
- I’m also watching Tokini Andy’s Genki I videos as a companion
- Bunpro, for extra grammar/vocab drilling
- Tadoku free books, for reading practice
- Nihongo kon Teppei, for listening practice
