Recommendations for reading digital manga with OCR

I like reading manga from time to time and mostly use Kindle for this nowadays.

Do you have any recommendations for an OCR viewer which would make looking up unknown words way more easy?

I’m using osx/iOS

Thanks a bunch for your tips and recommendations in advance

You can prepare your Manga with Mokuro, but it would be good to have some basic knowledge in Python just to install everything correctly.

Otherwise, you can simply use https://www.owlocr.com/ on mac os! Works flawlessly on my end and I didn’t had to pay for anything either with my usage. (But I find Mokuro more convenient for Manga)

Thanks a bunch for the quick reply.

Owlocr looks interesting but wouldn’t allow me to just look up words by hovering over them, right?

Too bad something like Migaku doesn’t work with Kindle

Two OCRs I’ve used are KanjiTomo on Windows and Kaku on Android. It’s a little fiddly, but generally both worked great.
KanjiTomo looks words up on mouse over, which seems to be exactly what you are looking for. You should be able to run it on Mac, since it’s just Java.
Sorry, I don’t know about iOS, but there’s bound to be an equivalent program too.

Kaku on android is about the best you’re going to get outside of mukuro. Not sure about ios

Unfortunately the error rate with ocr generally is such that i personally think you’re better off just looking up words in a dictionary that recognises gesture writing. It’s also awful at slang, regional accents, and names…
