might wanna hold off on yotsuba…honestly it’s good but for a beginner it’s slangy and really hard to look stuff up, as a native speaker learning to read or being used to hearing a lot of japanese would be fine but it’s not the best for a beginner…lots of people say it is but it’s just not unless you can handle so much kid slangy speech (when you do get used to it though - it’s pretty fun and def recommend but not as a place to start)
i’d recommend looking at past ABBC books - and see if anything strikes your interest…teasing master takagisan doesn’t suffer from the slangy issues that yotsuba does and we finished that whole series as a club so 20 vol all ready there to read, with vocab sheets all filled out (and open threads) so if you get stuck you can ask for help.

lots of options - as long as what you are reading is fun
when I first started reading I picked up and dropped so many different things (pre natively) not realizing they were impossibly hard, but coming back to them later and now they are a cakewalk…
check out the equinox / solstice threads - join us for one of them… autumn is coming 
think we have a new rule, pizza is now required at some point though (something like that) or was it bacon chokky cake 
if really motivated a 2026 bingo card may be in your future
there are also bookclubs run separately over on natively as well if you really start to love reading
