I started the last chapter in 英雄伝説 碧の軌跡. Now we need to travel around to find our party members and prepare for the rescue of キ－ア. There are only kill monsters quests left it seems, which is good I won’t be distracted from following the main story line.

- More of the day investigation in Gyakuten 2 case 2. I think I’m nearly done with the investigation and can get back to court soon - actually, I might just finish the rest off today (/edit: according to a guide I am not quite halfway through the investigation, so I might just call it there for today). Not sure if it’s going faster or I just had more time this morning to read, possibly both.

Woooow I forgot how much of a piece of shit Seigi’s sperm donor is. He’s upset about the time(s) Hiromi hit him because “it’s not okay to hit people even if they hit you first,” and yet it’s perfectly okay for him to beat her since they were divorced so it “didn’t count.”
In the narrative, Seigi pretty exclusively refers to his sperm donor as 「男」 but there are a few times he refers to him as his father—though qualified. 「血縁上の父親」「生物学上の父親」「推定父であるはずの男」(the last is pry my fave). I wonder if the usage of “sperm donor” for “one’s biological father who contributed sperm the traditional way but is such a POS that he doesn’t deserve the title of ‘father’” isn’t a thing in Japan, if Seigi wouldn’t call him that, or if Seigi simply hasn’t had the chance to yet.

I know it’s not gonna happen, but there is a part of me that wants Seigi to murder him (consequence-free). As a treat. He would deserve it. (Regardless of who that “he” refers to.)
「でも死ぬと年金がもらえなくなるなんて知らなかった」
Is he stupid? Or is he just playing stupid, trying to get some kind of reaction out of Seigi? He doesn’t react to this even in the narrative, but he thinks the line about it not being okay to hit people even if they hit you first may possibly have been meant to provoke him—but it could also just as well be that he really is just that much of a hypocrite. Seigi knows several of the other things he’s said to him are lies, but he isn’t quite sure if he meant that one genuinely.
I feel like I remember Seigi threatening him with a knife. But most of what I remember is that he somehow found out about the sapphire and showed up to coerce money out of him because of that. (And he sure won’t shut up about money or how his mother’s dead now and he’s ~so helpless~ and can’t take care of himself without her and so needs the help of the son he loves so much, and oh he shouldn’t have abandoned him to let Hiromi poison him against him, he’s grown into such a bad child, but that’s okay, but the closest he’s mentioned to anything relating to London is that he knows he works in Ginza.)
Huh, I thought I had read both volumes I had of Δ帽子のキッチン, but turns out I’ve only read the first. Found that out when marking that one as reread in Bookmeter today.

Partly why I haven’t played ACNH the last… 3 days? was, yeah, reading in English, but also it was partly because I was afraid my first campsite visitor was gonna be Pietro again. But I got Curlos! I’m neutral toward him.
Also got my first house visitor today, Osai (pink rhino; dunno her EN name), and found out that they’ll water your plants! Dunno if that’s new or if I just don’t remember or if I hadn’t had a visitor with the right personality or hobby before, but anyway, it was cute. She spritzed all my plants that she could get to.

And just like that, we’re a week into February! Good job, everyone!
Today was a very light reading day for me with this week’s ギャルと恐竜 being pretty breezy compared to last week. I also had a ton of plans, errands, and chores to do to set myself up for the week, which didn’t leave me with a lot of time or energy. Still feeling good about this weekend’s reading overall, though.
Also tangentially related, the Yuri Book Club I host monthly for some local friends met today. Green Yuri vol 1-3 was on the menu, and I’m pretty pleased with how my character/discussion guide turned out. It was nice to have some color on my usual black-and-white printouts.
We always start our meetings with “What Are We Watching?” where everyone shares their show/book/game/whatever that they’re really into right now. One of our members was persuasively infodumping about Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar and I just so happened to remember how it ranked #2 on GameGengo’s Best Games for Learning Japanese 2025, so… well, uh… it’ll be delivered tomorrow? Look, I’m just trying to be social, okay??? And I caught it on sale!

Yesterday I finished my next volume of Yotsuba!!
Wahhhh, it continues to be so good. I’m trying to slowly read though them so it will last longer

This was such a good volume!!! A big chunk of it was Yotsuba meeting her Grandma. At first she was just excited for the おみやげ her Grandma was bringing, but when it was time for her to go home she just wanted to spend more time with her Grandma :’)))

The last time I was in Japan I saw some friends again, and got to spend a lot of time with them. So after that, now when I read Yotsuba it reminds of their son It sounds like stuff he would say hahaha… so I tried drawing him in the styleee wahaha

Chapter 2 of からかい上手の高木さん４, and this one felt pretty good compared to some of the other ones recently. It comes and goes but the practice and effort remaining is going to make it all worthwhile!
