- Read コンビニ人間 (43%) Equivalent to week 12 of 19 of the IBC Primer Book Club.
I didn’t update yesterday - still read in Japanese that day, I just wasn’t feeling the best. Anyways, I’ll write the updates for both day’s reading here.
February 5th 
自動販売機に生まれ変わった 第一巻 - DNF at 41%
I always feel bad DNFing a book and as a result rarely do, it was simply that I wasn’t vibing with that particular book and it began to feel more like a chore than a fun read, which is usually a sign. It wasn’t a bad book by any means and I’d still recommend it to anyone who wants to read something very light-hearted and silly (in a good way), it just wasn’t for me. But you live and learn!
February 6th
安達としまむら 第五巻 - 16 pages (8% → 14%)
本好きの下剋上 第一巻 - 17 pages (0% → 4%)
Was feeling more able to focus and got a good chunk of both books in today. It’s really nice to spend more time with 安達としまむら, it’s become something of a comfort series to me and always lifts my spirits when I read it. I also started the first 本好き book which I’ve been eagerly awaiting, and it may be too early to say only a few pages in but I’m already in love with the writing style and really excited to see the story progress

- Finished the second case’s first day trial segment in Gyakuten. Halfway mark for the case… which means more investigating is afoot. Generally I think the trial segments go faster than the investigation, probably because they’re much more dramatic.

The journey home was nowhere near as good a reading opportunity as I hoped as I became unwell again on the way. Spent a couple of days in Johannesburg but was mainly in bed with severe nausea and fever so didn’t read much. It’s left me a little behind, and I haven’t yet started バター which I wanted to keep up with.
I’ve got a couple of days off coming up including today so will see how I go.

Tanimoto was lying when she told Seigi she wouldn’t give up on finding romantic love!! Although she wonders if she’s not just too much of a coward to go looking :/ And then Richard gives her a speech that amounts to “You might think you’re aroace now, but you’re not going to forever” :/// If Tsujimura could cut it out with the aphobia, that would be great. Man, getting my hopes up for nothing. What if romantic love doesn’t ever become something she wants, huh? What then? Sure, she might turn out to be grey or demi or something, but what if there is no “right person,” hm? Stop telling her she might find someone she’ll fall in love with and start telling her she’ll surely find someone whose “好き” is the same as hers challenge. That even has the bonus of covering both possibilities, on top of being what she most needs to hear.
だから彼氏を作ろうと思っても作れない。だってそれは彼女に必要ないものだからだ。

stfu, Seigi, she’s never gonna date you
The title of case 3 was familiar because it’s one of the ones that got a drama CD adaptation, but also I was partially right about Seigi’s sperm donor: he makes his appearance right at the end. Seems it’s case 4 that’ll deal with him.
In any case, I’m caught up for now with Δ帽子, though I’ve also got three volumes of キッチン. I had actually planned to read them all yesterday, but, hah, that clearly didn’t happen.

Pretty great reading day! Started off with some grammar study and an end-of-chapter passage on MaruMori about 花見, then completed よるよ１ and read half of the last chapter of 女男爵の庭師１. On top of that I re-read volume 3 of The Guy She was Interested in Wasn’t A Guy at All in English for an IRL book club I’m attending tomorrow. So much reading!
The last chapter of よるよ was indeed much easier and featured an adorable backstory of the little shadow creatures, 影たち, delivered via a darling little play with outfits and all. The dialogue was much easier to follow and helped me pick up some grammar points like かもしれない and some more storytelling conjunctions / phrases.
Also finally got some more garden action in 女男爵の庭師. This one is turning out to be more of a mystery than I thought. Also had the first real potential yuri romance moment, which I’m still not sure will happen, but 'twas a nice development.
Tomorrow will likely be a bit lighter, what with the aforementioned book club and some errands I need to run, but I should be able to finish my second of 6 completions for the month!

Reading: バス
I found some graded readers on my phone I’d forgotten about and read one called バス. Nothing wrong with graded readers. However I can now see how different it is to reading よつばと. I think for me, native materials are the way to go, mostly. Also I’m at New Chitose airport heading back home. Goodbye Japan, until next time （╹◡╹）

Read the first two chapters of ミラーさん, I thought it was a very good way to start a long read since I competed the first volume of みんなの日本語 and currently studying
the second. It turned out to be a good first read. Not the most exciting story, but it has pills of Japanese culture and I know most of the vocabulary already.
Pretty good exercise!
February 4
I played more 英雄伝説 碧の軌跡 escaping from jail. Lol Lloyd was rescued by ツァイト, who turned into a giant monster wolve. I can’t take the series seriously the story writers always put some nonsense into the games. ツァイト can talk now, the guys at Falcom love their talking animals. We meet ワジ again and he is actually working for a secret organization run by the church. Lol everyone seems to have a secret idenity or is member in some secret orgainzation.
February 7th
