- Finally got to a break in the first day 1 trial… but not the end of the day’s trial. My god, that went on and on and on… and it’s still going lol. Well, at least this should help my stamina if nothing else. 坊や。
- Another day, another rambunctious sex comedy completed in a day. Reading this I realised how sparse this comic is in terms of dialogue - but also how much I like it. I really have to figure out how to watch the live action if I can. The slang is really fun because a lot of is is weird even to characters in-universe, so being able to understand it ‘naturally’ is reassuring.
- I realised my Boox pen works on my phone (and my phone pen works on my Boox) which seriously simplifies some things which is great

Finished Chapter 24 of デスノート and almost finished Chapter 25. Suddenly the middle of the chapter got really difficult for me (maybe because it’s already late and I’m tired) and my brain was just completely fried, so I’m stopping with that and will probably finish it tomorrow after work. I wanted to finish it today, because it’s the last one in Volume 3 but I guess it will wait until tomorrow ¯\(ツ)/¯

風立ちぬ ~7 pages, 45m
Decided to try reading together with the advanced book club. I wanted to challenge myself with older and more difficult storytelling. It is indeed more difficult, the sentences feel longer, and sometimes it takes two-the times reread to understand a sentence. But it was nice to see that I recognised some vocab I learned reading the Apothecary diaries.

Legend of Heroes Trails from Zero
Mainly running around in the first town and talking to people. Right now the game seems to be different from the Trails of Cold Steel series. It feels more laid back and not as serious.

Finally got around to getting through Week 1 of 風立ちぬ from the Advanced book club! It’s my first proper book club read, and it’s a hard one to start with. It’s not as difficult as I expected it to be, though. It’s just a lot more lookups than usual (especially given my kindle version has lots of old unupdated kanji readings etc), and more thinking than usual being required as well. It’s still manageable though, just slow! I might get a physical copy like the 角川 version at some point in the next week or two, given I’ll likely be rereading sections quite a bit, and it’ll be nice to have.
Thanks to having started it, though, I’m now officially in “reading too many books” territory (if there is even such a place). I’ve started all the books I wanted to that I own now, though, so now it’s time to burn through some over the next few weeks before sploshing my next paycheck up the wall of another bookshop.
Decent chunk of progress in この嘘 as well. Book 2 of the コーヒーが冷めないうちに series, and I think it’s going to become somewhat of a comfort series. I think I said somewhere before that I might want to try and finish off the whole series this year, and I think that looks likely. I’ve read the first 4 books in English, but the last 2 I haven’t. And the last one hasn’t even been read on natively yet! If I hurry up, I might just get there first! Setting aside pointless milestones, I’ll probably read them all. It’s the best thing I have to just sit down and read, with minimal effort having to be put in.

13th feb
finished vol 1 in my omnibus of sherdock and hopefully that’s the last of the ecchi swimming teacher stuff. very uncomfy. then an IBS flare-up meant i struggled to focus for the rest of the day, so i sort of skimmed roughly the first volume of berserk (free to read the full series? for 48 hours as of yesterday on young animal) and definitely didn’t take all of it in partially cos the website reader is dogshit but words were read. did a little psycho-pass too.

I was lazy and only read four pages Dーダーク・ロード 2―吸血鬼ハンター 11. What I like about this book? You never know what might happen next. There is always this feeling of everyone being in danger all the time.

Keeping track of things has not been going well again whoops, but I have read every day. Apparently last night I even read 45 pages of SBR. I felt I should go to bed, so I just kept reading until I couldn’t Japanese anymore. I think I’m almost done packing for my move, which is pretty exciting. Hopefully I can read more when I don’t need to spend hours on box tetris.

Finished reading Chapter 25 of デスノート. With this, Volume 3 is finished 
Overall, this volume wasn’t too bad, but the part about L explaining why he thinks the tape was sent by second Kira kinda went over my head. Something about bad handwriting, recording the voice with an external microphone that was recording sound from a computer, or something? I don’t know, that part felt especially difficult for some reason.
Looking forward to reading the next volume
