More Zenitendou today. I read this book a few years ago and felt like it was way above my level. Now it feels just right. One more small proof that my Japanese is improving. Feels good!

just some pixiv and these two articles. that second one had 碧い in it, which i think is the first time i’ve seen that kanji for it.
also way more pages of the binding than i thought, i’m flying through it. tho, content warnings for period-typical homophobia and on-page graphic violence against a dog. other ones include sexual assault and reference to murder of a baby. there’s a lot of pastoral and kind of idyllic moments in the book, but when it gets dark it commits to it.

I just couldn’t stop reading, and even though I technically still have time to read today, I think it is better to stop. I know that there was no better fate for Loulan, but I’m still sad. And I’m glad that all the children are safe. I feel stupid that I didn’t get right away what kind of poison it was. I got it only when Lihaku found them.

I was running around in the newly available areas and found some students and finished some quests.
Today I was still busy cleaning and couldn’t play that much. Maybe there will be more time tomorrow.

今日チーズスイートホームの第26章を読みました。Also found a ton of books in Japanese at the goodwill. I skimmed through to see what I can recognize and picked up on more kanji and vocab than I thought it would. But still most of it went over my head.

- More Elf-san, now that we’re back in reality it seems to be rocking along since there’s not as many word lookups.
- Finished Grill of Our Love 8, main character was being kinda annoying but it looks like it’s all resolved now. Not sure where to head to next… probably another V1 I haven’t read yet (as I alternate ‘easy’ reads between continuing series/new series)

Obviously I got really into the story, but ngl I got a bit disappointed. I really enjoy the horse race bits of SBR, but I’m not liking the fights. Like characters bringing guns to stand fights is great, I love that but the fights aren’t very satisfying recently. It feels like a lot of trying the same exact tactic twice and then boom win. Like there’s less give and take in the fights. Hopefully that changes. When I was trying to find the page number for vol 10, it seemed like there’s a new interesting thing about to happen

Completed the week’s reading for Doraemon and finished chapter 5 of Phantom Busters.
I know I’m only a little way into the series but it may slowly be making it’s way into my favourites. The characters and the way their personalities play off each other is really well done, and the mix of some typical shounen type action scenes and daft comedy is the perfect balance for me.
This volume introduced a new character who is the head of the student council. He’s been putting on an act of being super strict but deep down he’s a super fan of the occult, and the bits with him fangirling inside whilst on the outside he’s deadpan whenever it’s discussed are great.
