Home Post
Another 9 pages of ふらいんぐうぃっち read. I was hoping to read the whole final chapter and finish the volume today but I don’t function well in hot weather so it was a bit of a slog today. If I wasn’t giving this challenge a go I definitely would have skipped all together but the power of keeping a streak going is very motivating

Finished chapter one and onto chapter two. Premise is now established I’m excited to see where it goes from here.

I don’t have a home post. I first read this book during the readathon, got to 30%. After that I’ve read a few pages here and there without posting. I read out loud today to hold attention on what I was reading and I could really feel my jp tongue/throat muscles working

0% → 4%- Finished Violence Banzai, fairly insane. My best description is the protag is sort of a douche, but also a weakling, a sort of basic manic pixie dream girl turns up but instead of being nondescriptly interesting she’s insane about violence. A lot of uncomfortable sexual stuff here in that kind of grindhouse shock-horror way. May or may not keep reading idk. Art is compelling though and the author knows their fighting.
- Started 安達としまむら, just getting to grips with it for now.

7月8日
I read two chapters of Narnia today. Double dose.
Edmund and Lucy get back to the others and Edmund gaslights Lucy by saying they were just playing pretend. She’s upset, Peter yells at Edmund that he shouldn’t be mean to her or play along with it. Peter and Susan start to be worried about Lucy and tell the professor they’re staying with about it. He wonders why they don’t teach logic in schools anymore and says she’s either telling a lie, mad in the head, or telling the truth. Based on past experience Lucy is more truthful than Edmund and Lucy doesn’t seem insane, so clearly there’s another world in the wardrobe where time passes differently. Peter and Susan are a little flummoxed by this because they expected something more grounded in reality. Susan asks what to do about Lucy, the professor says to leave her alone.
Later on the kids are all running away from the caretaker who’s leading tourists through the house and they all hide in the wardrobe. Suddenly it’s cold and there’s trees, so after Peter apologizes to Lucy they take the coats, reasoning that no one’s using them and technically they’re not taking them out of the house or even out of the wardrobe. Edmund mentions as they decide where to go that there’s a lamppost just ahead and everyone knows he’s lying about earlier so Peter chews him out a little more. They go to where Mr. Tumnus’s house is and it’s been ripped apart by the secret police who left a note about the arrest. Lucy describes a little about the white witch who calls herself the queen. Everyone in the forest hates her and it’s always winter yet Christmas never comes. A bird shows up and Lucy thinks it’s okay to follow it for a while. Edmund asks Peter how they really know the queen is evil or what they know about the whole place.
It’s interesting how much of this is directly adapted by the stage play I saw in March. Some sections really are word for word like the book.

Kind of a missed day for me yesterday… we had a small power cut alongside the heatwave in the evening and even when it got back my fan couldn’t make me go cold enough to read.
Just had some sentences reviews as reading but those don’t really count in low number anymore.

Busy day and an early morning tomorrow. Did manage to sneak a bit of reading in during my lunch break and a bit more at the end of the day. I’ll share some more thoughts about the story when I finish the chapter, I think.
Considering picking Satori Reader back up for a bit. I prefer reading manga on my tablet, which is kinda hard to pick up and read for smaller chunks of time. The Satori chapters are pretty short and easy to read on mobile, so that might be helpful for sneaking in reading time between puppy adventures. Also have been wanting to try reading more narrative text instead of manga, so maybe this would be a good bridge toward that. They actually just sent me a returning member discount, so maybe…
This is actually the story I was trying to read last year when I tried out Satori Reader! I actually read the first chapter today and it was soooo much easier and comprehensible than when I was attempting it before, hah!
Haha it is probably way out of my league right now but someday I will join you in the quest for dramatic heirloom rice! (and yes he is the best boy 
)
