Ended up reading chapter 4 also yesterday so read chapter 5. Love this story, it’s so mysterious. Wish I had more time to read as I am flowing through it nicely, even the long sentences.

Set a timer for 1 hour this evening and got through 23 pages of ふらいんぐうぃっち 1 which was the whole of chapter 5! 
During the readathon it took me double that to read a chapter but I don’t think I’m that much faster at actually reading, just way more efficient at looking up words now haha!
I really enjoyed meeting 春の運び屋さん (The Carrier of Spring?) in this chapter. I like that Flying Witch feels so grounded in reality as a slice of life story but the magical elements feel right at home as well 
And it’s a nice cosy vibe, perfect for an evening read, which is lucky because I seem to keep leaving my daily reading til later and later in the day, whoops!

Four chapters of a new read, 暴力万歳 (Violence Banzai!), which has a lot more sexual assault than I was expecting - I thought it would be closer to Baki or Teppu but it’s closer to a grindhouse crime flick mixed with some fucked up psychological/sexual stuff. Weird balance. Should be done with it today. At least my Yakuza/fighting vocabulary is expanding

Finished section 5 and started section 6, which I think has 櫛田's heel turn after 堀北's study group blows up, which is probably the moment that solidified “oh, i’m watching this whole thing” for me. i think in the anime it happens in the park, but it sounds like it’s up on a roof in the book.
the study group thing is a bit more fleshed out than in the anime, which i like—it’s clearer how (and why) 櫛田 is instrumental in the study group happening, and clearer why it doesn’t work. also, the way that 堀北 gets 綾小路 to work with her for this scheme makes much more sense: there’s both the “you thought i was treating you but i’ll ask for something in return” AND the punishment for the deception 櫛田 asked him to help her with. anyway, also some bonus slightly career-relevant vocabulary for me in 連立方程式: “system of equations”

夏子の酒 was one of my “goal reads” when I got back into learning japanese so I’m very pleased with myself right now.
New books pic and a long-winded recommendation
I read 夏子の酒 a couple years ago in fan translation and it immediately became one of my favorite manga to date. It’s about this woman in her early 20s, Natsuko, who moved away from her family’s sake brewery in the countryside in order to work in Tokyo. But her older brother falls ill, so she comes home. He tells her about this まぼろしの米, Tatsunishiki 龍錦, that was grown before the war but is no longer cultivated; he wants to bring it back. No spoilers so I’ll leave it there, but it’s a sort of slice of life emotional story about Natsuko, her family, sake, and this rice. (Has rice ever made you CRY? Read 夏子の酒 and it will!) I highly highly recommend it, all vols available digitally at bookwalker etc. It’s never been translated officially so it’s not nearly as well-known / -regarded as I think it should be.

Lucky sevens! Today I read the next chapter of the Narnia book. In which Edmund has a totally chill conversation with the queen and eats a normal amount of Turkish Delights (as a kid I could never figure out what these are or taste like because it’s a very British thing, I think they’re like sugary gumdrops or something, but I never got why he was so eager to get them and basically sell out his family for candy). The queen wants to know details about his family, there are exactly four siblings two sons of Adam and two daughters of Eve. She says to bring them back to her and he can be a prince and have as much Turkish Delight as he wants. Later in the chapter the queen leaves and Edmund meets Lucy right at the lamppost near the exit. Lucy is very excited to have Edmund back her up in front of the others and prove she was telling the truth. When they all come back next time they can have a big adventure together.
extremely rarely somebody i know will buy a lil box of Turkish Delight and share some with me. it’s pretty great. delightful, even. i dunno that i’d go so far as to sell out all of my siblings to the woman who Is The Reason It Is Always Winter and Never Christmas over it, but maybe that’s just me

I bought some reguri DJs from Otaku Republic, and they included a PokéMas EX square can badge of Green and Zapdos!
Anyway, not much reading today bc I spent a bunch of time playing Smash/Grow since a new DQVI event started. Also wow I do not remember the legendary equipment in VI at all. Absolutely zero recognition.

I think in all the fics I’ve read that involve it, Eevee doesn’t evolve because she doesn’t want to (though she will when she’s good and ready—usually into an espeon or sylveon), but in Prismatic Sepia, it’s because Green doesn’t want her to. He lent her to Red when Red wanted to borrow one of his pokémon to take with him on a journey to complete his Pokédex (so it would be like Green was with him ♡ Yes it earned him a kiss), and he was so annoyed when Red brought her back as an espeon that the last page is a do-over where he lends Red a different pokémon instead lmao
I think 話したいことが is my favorite of those five, though. It’s set during their pokéjourney and follows Red and how he’s handling (or not) Green’s attitude change.

Revocated Terry in paladin today! I changed his vocation the least, so he’s gonna be the first by a long shot lmao. Shion’s next-closest, in warrior, and she’s only lv 70. Anyway, the only quest I completed today was to defeat Sir Sanguinus with everyone wearing a Swinedimples blazer, but I did pick up a new story quest right before saving

Managed to get some reading done on my lunch break and then end my evening with a bit more. A productive day overall, but accidentally forgot to do my WK reviews before the stroke of midnight. Oops. The perils of using two different systems for SRS is that you forget to do one of them sometimes. Or something. Oh well, my streak is still safe and I did my reviews this evening anyway which is what I’m really concerned about. Need to get that study log going to hold myself accountable…
Reading this series is coming along, but I feel like my general comprehension of this manga is lower than my usual. Picking up a lot of good stuff though!
Sounds lovely! This series has been on my radar for a minute; maybe I should check it out. I do love a cozy read!

I continued the case The Masquerade Lullaby. Still nothing happened just the characters discussing about murders commited by children and the reasons for it. I’m starting to get bored by these detective games and would prefer to play or read something else.

I decided to start posting in batches instead since it’ll mostly be the same thing everyday c: I’ve been busy the past week but I still kept my streak up!
I’ve still only been playing Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, and the times are all estimated cause I didn’t time it lol

Love Turkish Delight but yeah, I would hesitate to overturn an entire social order and trap my siblings in a parallel world just to get some.
