Today I picked up a different book. Maybe not the best if it’s a new book every day but the variety could be a good thing. I haven’t read this since the spring readathon, but I read chapter 3 of the first Narnia book. They’re ordered in publication order in Japanese publishing so I mean it’s the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. This chapter was Lucy returning and no one believing her story. Then one night she sneaks off to the wardrobe room again and Edmund follows her and goes inside Narnia but he can’t find Lucy. It’s very cold though and he wonders if he’s the only person in there before he runs into some reindeer and a dwarf and a woman who says she’s the queen.

Pretty short read today, just the intro to the second chapter of 創る庭. Had the puppy snuggled up to me while reading and started to fall asleep a few pages in. I wanted to do more reading earlier in the evening, but it’s hard to find a stretch of focus between the intense period of puppy playtime needed to make up for an afternoon full of puppy napping. I’m so tired…
Hopefully tomorrow I can at least get a full read in on my lunch break, which helps. Idk. I’ll crack the code soon some way or other…
This is relatable. The verbs are always what get me, and I do think that tying them in to the original mnemonic would help more. Will have to try your method!

Read about another 1/3 of huge chapter 9 to the 2/3s point - this chapter feels like an anime recap episode, the main character is reciting everything (everything) about the case so far.

So when I first started spelunking, I noticed they said “[grotto name]の洞くつ” when you first enter and stopped paying attention… until the other day, when I dismissed it as usual only to notice just as I did that, wait, did that say アジト? So today I started going through my maps to record what they all say, and it turns out this is the environ word that lets you know how many floors it will have! The EN just moved it out into the actual name, probably because it sounds better being in the middle. 洞くつ is the equivalent of Cave, which covers 4 out of 5 environs in the lowest quality maps, thus it took me a while to realise they were not, in fact, all called 洞くつ.
Though, of course, the first map is a Tunnel, which idk what it is in JP beyond something that I clearly didn’t pay attention to (I don’t still have the map). These seem like they’re translated pretty 1:1, though, unlike the affixes. If there’s a pattern in the JP, idk what it is, but in EN, the prefixes steadily get more valuable and the suffixes steadily grow more despairing.

I started the next case. From this case on the graphics, music and interface changes but still no voiced lines. When the games released maybe there was a new generation of phones with better specs and the game developer probably released their games for said new phones. I just started the game, nothing happened yet.
Are you swapping between them for perspective’s sake or a particular reason? I’m curious because I have both as well (unread) and wonder if I should try reading them in a certain order.

Yes, their stories seem to be intertwined, to what extent I’m not sure yet, but I’ve already seen some crossover happening as early as volume 2. I’m following the release order where you roughly read one xxxHolic volume for every two Tsubasa volumes. I’ll post it in a dropdown, it’s also easy to find on google.
