lol I didn’t start reading the next story, but when I flipped to its first page, I saw the phrase, “名（迷）選手.” That like calling him a “famous(ly annoying) athlete”? XD
Btw, may I ask you - do I understand correctly from looking at your natively profile, you’ve read Honzuki 1 and the Honzuki gaiden 五年生 1? ? I don’t understand this sequence, I’m much confusion
Edit: Ah, I forget gaiden is its own thing. Which I haven’t read. I’m reading the 五年生 spinoff. I must stop calling it gaiden. What to call it then? I see some call it H5Y. Author calls it 番外編 on the narou page. I guess I’ll call it that, then.
The thing is that I read the whole Honzuki in English I decided not to read it in Japanese right away because there are so many other things to read, but I plan to do that eventually. Although I’m listening it as an audiobook from time to time.
So it was very convenient for we to start reading spin-off in Japanese skipping all the other stuff. So the info on my Natively is correct, and I was talking about H5Y 2

I finished book 3 of ハピネス yesterday. Before jumping into book 4 I decided to pick up volume 2 of ドラえもん graded readers. I’m not sure if it’s referring to joyo grades, but wkstats shows I have all of the joyo grade 1 and 2 kanji. I read grade 1 ドラえもん with the book club so maybe it’s time for the grade 2 book. I think I’ll read one or two of these stories in between volumes of ハピネス just to break it up a bit.
Finished up ゆびさき for the ABBC. I think this’ll be the end of the story for me but I enjoyed my time with it. Also spent about an hour on Final Fantasy for that club.
Finished ボーイッシュ彼女, seems like a way sweeter Tomo-chan with a way less dense male OP. As is typical for a lot of started-as-a-twitter-comic things it doesn’t really have a plot until about halfway through (and even then calling it a plot is a bit much), but when more meaningful stuff started kicking off it was quite sweet.

Turns out that that “名（迷）選手” is a real person! 新庄剛志. The story involves a rash of incidents in the Tōkyō area where baseball fans are having their signed jerseys stolen off their backs. (The only player I recognize is 大谷翔平 lol I don’t particularly care about RL sports despite loving sports anime/manga/novels, but even I’ve heard of him.) At first I was mildly interested, but then the MC realized he could kill the guy who caught him cheating on his wife and frame the perpetrator of these thefts for it, and suddenly I wasn’t anymore. The MC is the one who deserves an ill fate. idk, maybe he gets it, but I wasn’t reading 40+ pages of that. That seemed like too much of a slog.
There’s one more story after the Nukaga one, so I may stick to manga after finishing this since NO.6 shipped today. idk what else I have that might be quick. Oh yeah, and I’ve got こころ still, too, which I should make progress on…
i did do some misc jp reading yesterday but didn’t get around to my eng book cos i was unwell in the evening still finding it difficult to focus so manga once again on the backburner.

Will I be able to finish book this week? Now then, Kanae is planning on streaming a lot this week. First playing Yakuza yesterday and today and tomorrow. And then the new Metal Gear Solid game on the 27th. And then POE2 on the 30th at 4am over there.
