Starting a bit late, but I’m rejoining this challenge! Technically joined last time too but didn’t really read.
My main goal is to read 50% of the days. Of course my real goal is to read every day but also I know myself
Some other goals:
I want to to catch up to the actual day for 小学生なら知っておきたい教養366. So by September 30 I need to be on Day 273 (I am on 85 rn).
I’d also like to read some fantasy manga to prepare for Final Fantasy I in September. I might reread the A Link to the Past manga or read a new Zelda manga. Or maybe Witch Hat Atelier, which I’ve been putting off b/c I want to read it in English, but I do have the first volume in Japanese.

Turns out there’s a prebuilt deck on jpdb! Lucky~~ The books in this series are super short, around 65k characters per volume. I’m used to Honzuki 200k long books. The Kusuriya book (vol 14) I was reading during the readathon has 134k characters. So if I put in the effort I could do a readathon but for a week (read-a-week-athon?). Sounds extreme. I’m not sure I’ve come to love this series that much yet to be able to do that …But I also like a challenge Well, I haven’t bought all the books yet because I’m not sure I’ll even read them all. I take one volume at a time :3
Besides, the newest vol (10) of Silent Witch was released today Must commence reading soon!

Oho, sounds like eventual certain romance (And then the question becomes ‘how far does it go?’ ). Nice pun, haha.
July 9’
A little more Planetarian VN today. I’m reading it on Switch, where I can push a button to go between English and Japanese. Perfect when I’m really too tired to read!
Finished up the next chapter of 呪われた少年 last night. It’s nice to see them giving a little bit more backstory to the main character now. The book itself is still very much episodic but there’s starting to be some indication of a wider-arching plot.
Might try and jump back into 仄見える少年 today since I’m not too far off finishing the first volume.
alright, change of plan. abandoning tearmoon, starting 鹿の王, and trying a new manga. manga is very much nsfw (randomiser, throw me a non-nudity bone, please) but i’ll give it a bit longer before i drop it or not.
July 9th update! I read three sections of DrDru’s Main Experiment, 4.5-4.7. I started 4.8, but quickly got confused with a couple of kanji I didn’t remember, so I’ll have to go it at it again but potentially look up the hiragana for those two. July 10th goal is to read three more sections of DrDru’s project, but we’ll see how that ends up because the day looks busy.

I take back what I said about this series is easier than lvl 32. There are more old/literary words than I first thought. The author keeps citing Shakespeare/Hamlet and other old works. So I doubt it’s because the series was written 20 years ago. The Saikawa & Moe series was written even further back and has plenty of modern katakana tech/fashion words instead.
Just to name a few lookups: 希求、金蔓、暗唱、嗜好品、憂さ晴らし、緞帳、願い下げ、贋物、箴言、 独房。
Edit: Wait, the grade has changed to lvl 31? What’s going on My gradings can’t have had that big of an effect on the difficulty.
Edit2: Should I change my gradings?
I would love to read more, but since it’s very formal speech most of the time it’s so different to read than the other books I have read so far. Honestly don’t know if this will work out on my current level. Gonna still keep trying for now though
