Thought about what to read and decided to tackle the book I bought long time ago. Did learn some vocab from there and remember being pleasantly surprised with how easy it was to do a free read of the first chapter after ankiing all the words from the first chapter, but then priorities changed and I dropped it.
Anyway, re-read first chapter with proper lookups, now the picture seems more clear
Read a lot (by my current standards) from JJK today. But turns out I actually read this part a while ago, cause as I was reading it got more and more familiar, and by the end I had completely remembered that Megumi absolutely destroys Yuji in Mortal Kombat. I don’t remember exactly how far I read, but I feel like it wasn’t that much.
Chapter 34 of Bluelock and 30 mins on 13 Sentinels
Had one of those interesting moments of having never seen a word in the year I’ve been studying to then seeing it twice in two pieces of media in the space of an hour.
次元 じげん dimension
Used in Bluelock to say one of the player’s skills were out of this world.
And then in 13 Sentinels to say that someone was literally from another dimension.
A little bit more 逆転裁判… puttering very slowly along. Finished talking to 糸鋸刑事, looked at some evidence, and am now looking for the next plot thread to follow…
Finished 押しかけギャル, a breezy read.
Started 好きな子がメガネを忘れた2, an even breezier read. A very, very cute middle school romance.
Just a tiny bit more reading each day. This book is kind of interesting, but each chapter is a distinct short story with new characters, so I’m curious to see how (if) it all ties together.
i’m making a start on galileo series book 2, 予知夢! i really liked book one and book two is already starting off strong so i’m looking forward to it! bravely default continues also loves to use kanji that don’t come across well on a 3DS screen (see below), i’m so glad the plot sections are voiced.
bravely default:
祈祷 - prayer, grace (at meals)
辺 - side (of a waterbody e.g. lake)
励起 - excitation (physics/electricity)
予知夢:
反芻 - rumination. idk what it is about this word but it just won’t stick
オーエス - heave ho! (from french oh hisse)
早い話が - in short, in a nutshell, in a word
出で立ち - outfit, dress
雨樋 - drainspout, gutter
Just finished the classical Japanese auxiliaries, time for the particles now! Though when I saw Shirane has 11 meanings for に my resolve to make Anki cards for each grammar point hit rock bottom Not sure if it’s worth the effort. And I am getting a bit bored with it, to be honest! I am considering just ploughing through the remaining grammar without making any cards, just to get to the part where I get to use this stuff quicker.
finished the first case in 予知夢 and enjoyed it! yukawa-sensei didn’t feel super important to proceedings but he and kusanagi continue to bounce off each other really well so i’ll forgive it.
bravely default gave me both 世俗 (worldly things, ordinary life) and 俗世 (this world, earthly existence) in quick succession, and also the character trope of the lechery old man. great.
I’m so tired I had to take off my glasses and bring laptop up close to read more comfortably, If only I had reading glasses for pc, that’d be much more comfortable, I’ve been putting it off, but I guess it’s time to prescribe myself new glasses, I can’t keep straining my eyes like this, I’m about to get a headache, literally.
If I can take care of other people’s eyes and vision, I should be able to take care of my own vision as well
