i’m so glad the bravely default wiki is as robust as it is, makes looking things up so much easier. they’ve got translations for all the journal entries too so i don’t have to swap back and forth between languages all the time! started tales of symphonia (the manga). i’ve not played tales of symphonia (the game) so this should be interesting. my first full furigana anything in a while

words that stood out

all from bravely default:
棍(こん) - cane, stick, club. rare term, finding it google’s IME took a while. related to 杖(つえ)
屈強(くっきょう) - robust, brawny, muscular, strong
忽然(こつぜん) - sudden, abrupt, unexpected. usu. as こつ然(ぜん) i think but was in full kanji here
霊験(れいげん)あらたか - miraculous, wonder-working, magical
早起(はやお)きは三文(さんもん)の徳(とく) - the early bird gets the worm. they swapped 文(もん) for the in-game currency. the english translation cut this entire section

also swapped my emoji for bravely default
