: Satori Reader 壁の穴
10 minutes reading done 
Last day of spring (aka less warm/less rainy season where I live) reading challenge today! I can see the improvements clearly compared to Jan/Feb. Had aspirations for a big chunk of reading for my last day but the kids had other ideas lol. Don’t know what I was thinking 
it’s really hard for me to carve out even just 10 minutes of active reading time on top of WK and NS plus both of those are easier to do on the fly, reading needs some more focussed time. Let’s not get into why it’s so hard, it just is, with a dozen other things in my life trying to be first priority. I would like to continue reading and logging progress in month #3 but I said that last time as well. We’ll see how I go, otherwise see y’all on 1st July!

Today marks 150 days of consecutive reading in Japanese for me!!! I CAN HARDLY BELIEVE IT!
Anyway, had a pretty long but good day, and I decided to cap it off by giving a solid effort toward the mini-readathon. Read chapters 8-11 of 触れたい for a total of nearly 3 hours. Not bad! I might be able to sneak the last chapter or so in my 24-hour window tomorrow if I’m crafty… We’ll see!
The nice benefit of reading several chapters in a row like this is that I felt that I retained some of the words I had to look up better. I got 連絡, 恋愛, and 寄り道 way more solidified in my brain meat than I would have reading the chapters a day apart. Ah, if I only had infinite time to read…
I also forgot to read the bonus chapter of the first volume, so I did that too, which put me right at 3 hours. I’ve also passed the thousand page mark and read for over 2 days in this challenge! Fun!

Yay, happy reading! I need to put the summer readathon on my calendar so I can reserve the day. Feels weird to think back on the winter readathon, which was basically the first time I posted here and what started my current reading streak. Who even was I back then??

After looking through Ranpo’s author card on Aozora I’ve found that there’s about 110 different works on there… I don’t think I’ll be reading every single one of them 
Going to pick out a few that sound interesting and then see where I go from there, so, next story is:

Read about half of it - found quite possibly the coolest word I have yet found:
魑魅魍魎 [ちみもうりょう] - Evil spirits of the forests and mountains
Each kanji is nearly the same yet different, wait it’s a little hard to distinguish with the size of the font here…

There, enhanced, so cool. Each kanji too has very similar meanings to each other. This has soon become my all new favourite word
I’m not really sure how practical it is though, how will I casually slide this into a conversation?

I didn’t think I’d read much during this challenge, because I’ve been insanely busy with work. But now that I’m looking back at it, I finished 12 volumes of manga and reached the end of 2 series. Just goes to show how doing a little bit every day really does build up to a lot over time!

I finish book! Phew, now I got at least one book finished this month (it’s technically past midnight as we step into the first day of June, but that’s fine). I also have the more difficult royal chinese palace book I’ve read half 34% of in the beginning of May.
Reading the atogaki, seems like SAOP2 was the author’s 30th book written so far at the time of writing (Oct, 2013). I like this series and I like the writing, so I’ll continue on to book 3 next!
Hopefully at a faster pace than in May I’ve been so slow lately mostly because of spending time playing a certain game while following stream. That’s like attention grabber^2. I don’t have time for reading!

My first challenge is complete! I managed to read every single day since April 1st

Here’s what I read these past two months:
- April 1st: One chapter of Pokemon Special, this is notable because I was so sick that I nearly missed the first day lol.
- April 2nd-18th: I played through Pokemon Scarlet with both DLCs. I had a great time playing!
- April 14th-May 10th: I read so much ひとりぼっちの○○生活. During this time I went from chapter 24 to 66!
- May 6th: I started reading my first novel, また、同じ夢を見てた
- May 11th-May 21st: This was most notably my lightest reading period, I’d read a chapter of whatever I felt like at the moment. I completed 15% of my novel.
- May 22nd-May 31st: Gaming is back, I started playing Pokopia and just yesterday I started Magical Girl Witch Trials. I’m ending the challenge with ひとりぼっちの○○生活 at chapter 75 and my novel at 20%.
- At least once a week I read a chapter of Hirayasumi and played FF3 with the club.
I won’t be continuing into June only because I’m going to Japan in a few days. This was fun, thank you to everyone who posted (I read them all

Various manga and Satori Reader while being busy/traveling/on vacation
…I did it. I FREAKING DID IT!!! I COMPLETED AN ENTIRE READING CHALLANGE! I’ve participated in most of the seasonal reading challenges since Winter 2025 and I think the only month I read every day was July 2025. This time around I really wanted to complete the entire challenge and even if it was as little as reading one single Satori Reader episode, I read every day for two months! I’m going to try to keep my streak going through June, but I’m not going to keep up with the calendar or report everything daily.
