とんがり帽子のアトリエ Vol.3 - Read pages 10 - 16 
Small read today as I was pretty tired, and I spent some time working on my N4 grammar as well.
Watched episode 5 of the anime today and it was fantastic! I was absolutely riveted by a certain scene, what an amazing job the studio have done!

Would’ve liked to read more ムーミン but ran out of time. I figure I did enough reading between those two games today! LUNAR is way easier than Grandia so far, and the font is much much easier to read too.

Finished vol 16! And while I was nearing the end, at ~7:45 pm, before I’d gotten around to JR, the power went out (though it came back on not long before I went to bed). Guess that should be the first thing I reach for if I wanna actually read it, huh
Played:
・ドラクエⅨ「星空の守り人」 (32:57 ⇒ 41:25)
I made sure I had a supply of holy water before heading out metal hunting today, so there were fewer instances of accidentally scaring them off. I hunted until my supply ran out (I think I had 24? I only used them when I saw a MM I wasn’t confident I could reach before it noticed me). It started out quite a bit better than yesterday, but it did not stay that way and turned into more of a roller coaster. Ultimately, I did slightly better than yesterday, at 27/50. This time I also decided to keep track of how many times they were defeated by anything other than normal damage, and it was 5x via Pressure Pointer, 5x via assassin’s dagger, and 1x via crit. There was one MM where it had a group of three きとうし who put all of us to sleep except Milly before any of us got a turn, and that was one of those times that her assassin’s dagger procced. That was a close save. Sheesh.
We ended up being lv 34/34/35/33 when challenging the boss. I didn’t count how many rounds it took, but it was probably 4-5. It wasn’t even close lol. But I got my boat finally, and after collecting the sparkle spots on the surrounding islands and dropping by Gleeba, I went spelunking. Equinox is much easier now, although we’re still in danger of dying if he decides to call forth his hell’s lightning. Got the dragon scale and dragontail whip, though no Vesta gauntlets yet, not that I expected to get any. I did not decide to challenge Nemean just yet, and certainly not Shogum.

午后のあくび continues to be an absolute delight. I’ve caught up with this week’s BBC reading and we’re entering 秋 next! Today’s reading felt very comfortable, using a lot of known kanji, puzzling a few things out based off stuff I already know, and immediately seeing some new grammar points in action. And I didn’t fall asleep on the couch!!!
I’ve been starting to work my way through N4 grammar, which is a little weird to admit given how much I’ve been reading this year without doing it, and it’s been really nice. I feel like I’ve seen a lot of these points in action already and this is like a nice “Oh, that’s what’s going on” feeling. Perhaps it would have been better to learn the stuff up front, but maybe it wouldn’t have stuck as easily that way? Idk, learning is such a process and a journey…
Anyway, tomorrow is new book time, so I think I’ll start tackling the 3rd volume of 徒然日和.

Excited to watch; the show has been great so far. Are you further ahead in the anime or manga at this point?
I’m further ahead in the manga! I’m comfortably ahead too, usually an episode is ~60 pages or so, so even if I miss a few days I can keep up.
I like it this way because knowing what to expect in the anime and wondering how they’re going to do it is great, and honestly they blew the scenes in episode 5 out of the water!
That’s awesome! Yeah I think I generally prefer reading before viewing, but it’s fine the other way around too sometimes. I think watching a B&W story come to life in color is a magical experience, so I hope you’re enjoying it.
How are you finding the reading difficulty at WK15 and N4ish? It seems we’re around the same level, perhaps?
It’s not a easy one, but it’s getting easier the more I get used to reading! I guess I jumped in at the deep end because the only thing I read before this was a volume and half of Frieren, which is a similar rating. I plan to go back to that one too, and I have a backlog of nearly 100 books that I have bought all as an incentive to learn the language… 
It doesn’t have furigana so I have to spend extra time looking up the kanji as well, but I don’t really mind and it’s helped me to learn some of those that keep coming up over and over.
It’s really cool that we’re in a similar spot as far as the learning goes!

wooow its gorgeous. The quality of the paper looks great too.
Pika Edition is still around haha it feels like the pricing hasn’t changed that much in France which is great.

Read the third entry - he talks of a ricksaw journey he had but he starts to nod off and includes various folklore-isms into his descriptions of the scenery and such. Fun little entry - Hearn was writing magic realism like 50+ years before it became popular.

Complete! - Interesting article about an artist I’ve not heard of before!
Not from either of these, but also found this old form too “舊字體” which is the old form of “旧字体” - which means: the old character form of a word; the traditional kanji used for the word before the '46 reform.
It amuses me how the word is also an example of the meaning of the word - 舊字體 is a 旧字体.
