This time, there’s talk about a game which sounds kind f similar to how AI works. In the game there’s a character learning Japanese and you can tell they’re making progress based on the player’s input, e.g. grammar and choice of words. Interesting. This book is from 1998.
サイレント・ウィッチ 4: 83.06% → 92.95%, 1h51m (the rest is another LN)
Finished the book! A lot of mysteries are yet to be solved. Looking forward to the next volume.
BTW, @Redglare, I have a question for as you finished it all. Is it safe to skip サイレント・ウィッチ IV -after-? I’m hooked up on the main story, so I consider continuing with part 5 and read this one after I finish the main series. Or is it better to read them in order?
I would read them in order While it is a collection of short stories with attention on the different characters, the book takes place between book 4 and 5, so it would probably feel weird to go back after having read the other books.
June 9
A couple of pages of 霧島くんは普通じゃない ~転校生はヴァンパイア!?~ before bed today too. A long weekend of travelling and fun, and not much time to read. I hope to read more this week!
Read around 80 pages of Another I got to the big reveal, but I’m quite tired now so I’ll stop here. I will most likely finish this tomorrow, as I only have around 40 pages left. It feels weird that I’m going to finish this manga in less than 2 weeks, while I struggled with the previous one for 6 months lol.
Forgot to post last night, or I was too tired probably. Didn’t do any reading yesterday evening so was cramming in as much さよらな as I could before bed. Chapter 3 done, onto chapter 4. So far I do notttt like chapter 4. I’ll finish it today.
I borrow from both my school library and my city library here, my school library I’m very friendly with the librarian and I can get extensions/recommendations etc easily whenever I want, but their collection for some stuff isn’t as great as for my city library (although for specific series/the popular stuff they have everything I want - Thankfully I have generally similar reading tastes to Japanese students). So sometimes I have to deal with annoying returns for that one.
Why? She only likes the twins for their face. There is no “恋心.” She’s too shallow for that to disillusion her—she said herself she doesn’t care one whit about personality as long as the guy’s hot. But if it does disillusion her? Good. She doesn’t see them as their own people.
Also wtf is with Kakeru having a crush on her. You don’t have to put in a straight love polygon just because the book’s no longer going to be BL. (Miura does seem to like love triangles involving family members though. Gross. I think that was the only thing I disliked about the anime, but clearly there’s more I dislike about the novel. *sigh* Disappointing.)
Another book finished. This one I very much did not like the last chapter. Beyond that it was a mixed bag, some good bits, but maybe the worst of the series so far. Still alright overall, just nothing special, and the story topics weren’t to my liking.
I’ve had one of these books “on the go” for most of the last 4 months or so. But I might take a little break and get something different out from my library instead. Tomorrow will try to get back to either 国境の南 or 香君1, depending on what I feel up for.
Didn’t get to the manga today that I wanted to.
I’ll read some LN before bed, more than yesterday, will put in tomorrow’s results.
Slow day, motivation down since weather is doing bad things. Might read a bit before bed later buuuuut I am very lazy today * insert Gudetama emoji here*

Read part 1.10 + 1.11. Tiny read
・ サイレント・ウィッチ -another- 〈上〉 (0% → 1%)
Also started reading this before falling asleep last night. Turns out reading is better than doom scrolling while in bed trying to sleep. Won’t use timer, would just wake up the next morning with 7h+ on it, haha. It’s probably just 5-10min before I doze off into dream land.
This book is a side story about ルイス. It’s been in my tsundoku for while.
Finished reading Another today I enjoyed it. Overall, I think reading the whole manga went quite well. There were moments where I struggled a bit with understanding the plot, but in the end I think I managed to understand the story correctly.
And, started reading new manga, Mirai Nikki I watched the anime years ago, and I remember that I really liked it and binge-watched it in 2 days, but I don’t remember almost anything, which is great. Read up to page 165/217 of Volume 1.
In total, I read around 200 pages of manga today. Quite happy with today’s progress
Edit: Oh yeah, I also installed Ni no Kuni that I bought on sale a few weeks ago. I heard it’s great for learning Japanese (and that it’s a great game in general), so I might give it a go soon when I feel like it.
I feel a little sad realising that the last public holiday before Christmas has passed yesterday, so I’ll have a bit less reading time in the upcoming months.
お探し物は図書室まで: 4.26% → 8.83%, 49m
That was this week’s part. Even though the book feels nice, I’m not passionate about it (yet?). That makes it easier to wait for the next week
・37 pages of 風が強く吹いている, reading into ch 9 and leaving off on pg 414
I was not expecting the ekiden to start in ch 9. But it looks like ch 9 (~100 pages) is the first day of the race and ch 10 (~150 pages) is the second day. That’s wild. About 40% of the novel is the ekiden itself.
That means Haiji chasing down Nico-chan to get him to eat and that “the stars are beautiful tonight” scene were added in the anime. I’m kinda sad. That first one was hilarious.
