Finished Chapter 3 of Another (32 pages). 
So far it’s very fun to read, not only just because the manga is interesting, but also because it seems like most of the sentences in this are quite short and easy to figure out, so I don’t struggle that hard. Will try to read more tomorrow.

サイレント・ウィッチ 3: 63.55% → 91.87%, 5h31m
Almost finished with the book, the only thing left is the extra chapter. So far it is my favourite book in the series. I warmed up to Felix. A lot of details about his childhood came up, that made my understanding of his character deeper. I liked the festival chapters a lot, and how the friendship deepened. I even more sure now that there will be romance (not only comedy around it), but before I didn’t like how Felix treated Monica, but now I see them spending evenings reading together, and it seems like a very happy life. The only thing left is to deal with all the politics, so that Felix won’t become a king without letting down the country.

A successful week, probably due to days off plus a lighter roster at work (so I’m not exhausted when I get home).
I’m now up to date with all my manga clubs for the first time in ages, and ahead on a couple. I started this week 2.5 weeks behind on the dictionary but should finish it less than 2 weeks behind (still not great, but progress).
I should also finish the ABBC scary stories book today or tomorrow, and I’m catching up on my 2 other book clubs. With being off over the weekend, I should fully catch up then.
I then have 2 goals:
- try to finish the three books I started with clubs then fell behind on and out to the side
- get slightly ahead in anticipation of a road trip
I’m not sure which goal to prioritize! I’d like to finish the easier of the books at least. In terms of my trip, I’ve got a long series of flights so will have reading time then. But after a couple of days in the UK, I’ll be doing a roughly 12 day trip around Albania and Macedonia. From experience, road trips leave me too tired to do much reading in the evenings, plus I’m travelling with my step-dad so will also have less alone time to read. And then on my return, I should aim to be asleep for as much time as I can on the planes (I have 12 hours in Shanghai during the day and plan to explore. Unless they don’t let me out of the airport, in which case that’s 12 hours of reading!)

gonna keep reading a few entries here and there in the mythology book but have moved on to new suns which is a poc speculative fiction anthology

Posting early so I don’t forget! Today I read this week’s reading from the サバイバル・ゲーム book club. Lately I have been reading some books and VNs that are frankly too difficult for me, and reading has become a chore. This book is just the right difficulty level for me, and reading with the club is a lot of fun. Just what I needed today to get my reading mojo back!

Uuuber busy day once again.
Don’t quite know how it happened, but I came home, and now suddenly it’s the end of the day. 時間がどこへ行ったのかまったくわからんや
Anyway apparently what my screen is telling me is that I read things today. The only thing I remember is that this manga (この世界の片隅に) is both now really quite difficult to understand due to the dated 広島弁, and is really really lovely to read regardless. Going for the full child-like 0 lookup 100% guessing approach. This manga is the closest art and dialogue and humour and style-wise I’ve felt in manga to reading all my favourite comic books from my childhood. If all manga was like this, life would be good.
Look how many things I’m reading. Oops. Guess I lied when I said I don’t like having lots of things going on at once. I think because I’m time pressured I’m going for lots of little bits of lots of things, weirdly, rather than sticking more time in one thing which I’d do if I had more time available.

Y’know, I wonder if I’ll ever get my reading speed up high enough that I can finish reading all the text on a loading screen. I hope so, but it doesn’t feel like it.

Until page 84 today. Forgot how this Manga is actually about something more than just travel, haha. But also felt reminded of my first time solo travelling and just going for some easy takeaway food instead of something the city was known for. Made me realise how much I improved over time.
Buuut doing WaniKani reviews over the last few days reminded me of how easy it is to get out of stuff and forget things again. There is much work ahead and travelling has recently been kind of in the way. So it will be very sad to go back, but there is also things to look forward to (like having enough time and headspace to sink into japanese), which is nice.

That was the prologue. It was short, but revealed a lot about Monica’s childhood. Her stepmother was already mentioned before, but now there finally some details. I hope they still keep in touch
And I also started reading a manga recommended by a friend.

So far so good! The art style is beautiful, and the story seems nice as well. There are only two volumes at the moment, a nice place to start an ongoing manga
