- Put in a not-inconsiderable amount of effort to finish off 正反対5 which I think was maybe a bit more difficult even than usual. Had a spare afternoon though so thought I may as well use it. (It was New Years in the book, so it brought back a lot of NY dialogue I don’t see very often).
And that’s a wrap for the challenge portion of this challenge. I think I want to chill in June so might slow down a bit with no ‘project’ read until the new challenge in July. Not sure what I’ll pick up then either at this stage, but think I might need a reset either way.
Will do a wrapup post when I feel like it.

Aand I started another book… to be fair, it’s a bookclub book that I’d forgotten I’d committed to. This can serve as my hard book (really quite hard it seems given I’m not used to fantasy in Japanese, but it’ll be good for me).
Pile is now enormous. Need to get rid of some stuff. Step 1 is to finish the manga, step 2 is to finish some of these novels. I’m only going to start new books following on from series I’m currently reading for the foreseeable few weeks now (hopefully).
Anyway, it’s the end of the challenge proper! This time I’m going to carry on all the way through June probably, because there’s no real reason to stop. So I’ll also probably save any roundup for the end of June as well. Although when it comes time to the summer challenge I will most likely give myself a bit of a rest in the immediate prelude to and inevitable recovery period from the JLPT N2 which will suck all of my life force for a little bit.
Tomorrow, I’ll be starting off June strong with hopefully more than 4 combined hours of time on trains going to and from things, most of which I should be able to use for reading. Inbetween that I’ll be busy of course.

I don’t think I’ve ever had this many things on my list before, it just kind of happened. Somehow I am actually relatively actively reading 10 of the 11 things on the list at the moment, but it might not go down much for a while.

Finished chapter 7 now of グッドナイト、アイラブュー. And I learned 最期 which I didn’t know before. Would people use this in conversation or more in written form? Since it’s the same pronounciation as 最後, which could probably be used in the same context, no?

my understanding is that 最期 has a sense of ‘end of life’ and a different kind of finality to 最後. jp dictionary has this to say:
〔同音語の「最後」は物事の一番おしまいのことであるが、それに対して「最期」は人の死にぎわのことをいう〕

The end of the month! May was great reading-wise, I’m very proud of myself. I don’t expect to have that much time during summer, though.

Great manga, love it! I like reading about books, and I almost feel bad that I have only digital copy of this book… I might buy it again someday for my physical book collection

Finished the first week of a new book club. Not much to say about the narrative, but the language is nice.
