Spent a few hours this evening catching up with friends, and was busy at work so that shifted a bit of boring study to the evening. Shifted reading later and less today, but page total is alright as a result of reading easy quick coffee book for half an hour.
Will now read some more before bed, tomorrow’s stats.
Finished Chapter 2 of Another, 50 pages read today I’m really glad I forgot almost everything about this series because I find it quite mysterious and interesting to read.
Also, read 読み物 1 from Quartet 1 Chapter 5 + did the exercises.
Read the rest of Girl Crush in a rush yesterday… what a ride. Definitely on my ‘easy to binge’ list, need to get the rest of what’s available when I can.
Started 隣の猫 which is another guy-meets-weirdo-girl manga with the weirdo girl working in a cat cafe. Early days yet but pretty easy to read and enjoyable. @eagleflo says on Natively it’s by a Supermarket Smoking with You assistant which you can sort of vibe with.
You mentioned earlier that you read Kusuriya slower than the Silent Witch, but I definitely admire your pace! It seams currently out of reach to me, but your example is inspiring.
Read:
・58 pages of 風が強く吹いている, reading into ch 6 and leaving off on pg 267
・わたしが恋人になれるわけないじゃん、ムリムリ!(※ムリじゃなかった⁉︎) ch 2
…Why did they make Hana a year younger in the anime? She’s a Kanseidai student like the rest of them in the novel. Changed her hair length and color, too.
But what is she on about though about 恋 being liking someone’s looks and not caring about their personality? 逆だろ? That’s simple physical attraction (which, yeah, counts as ‘好き’), which can go along with love, but that is not itself love. That’s super shallow. I don’t like her in this so far. And why the hell is Haiji comparing only liking someone’s face to still loving running even when it’s つらい. No it is not the same thing??? wtf. If anything it’s the opposite: loving all of someone, even their “ugly” parts, not simply caring about how hot they are and nothing else. Allos really don’t know how to separate love and sexual attraction, do they…
Played:
・聖剣伝説3 Trials of Mana (17:45⇒18:56)
・あつまれ どうぶつの森
I found two class change items today, but one of them was a double. Seriously??
Anyway, playtime was probably at least 10-15 minutes more than that. We got TPKOd twice from normal monsters petrifying everyone. One of the areas I visited today had reddish ground, which made the red areas that show an enemy’s special ability’s path or AoE incredibly difficult to make out. Most of the enemies had poison or petrification attacks, so I just escaped or avoided nearly every battle… So glad that section’s boss was in a different environ, or it would almost certainly have taken me more than one attempt.
more focused than yesterday. 今日から俺は is the dumb fun i needed. one chapter at a time works well for it.
edit: gonna keep reading the mythology book in bursts of a couple of pages, i think, and try and find some short fiction to read until my library loan finally comes in
Glad you’re checking out that one! I’ve also kept reading (they usually appear right next to each other in 月刊ビッグガンガン). I love the art, very cute series overall.
i’m nearly done and in the surprisingly crowded genre of normal-guy-meets-weirdo-girl (there are so many of these often with the exact same sit next to them in class in the back right corner of the highschool classroom setup) this is pretty solidly in the mid-high tier
Busy day, couldn’t read as much as I wanted to but managed to squeeze out quick pages from さよなら again. One more busy day but I’m a bit busy on the weekend too. This will be a down week for reading overall but I’ll hit my goals.
Started a manga my librarian recommended to me. The 昭和 era 広島弁 isn’t so hard, but it’s definitely not so easy either. Illustration is nice. I need to read some more manga but I don’t want to take time away from novels when I’m busy. When I have a bit more time I’ll try do more.
Oh, and I decided to start a little bit of Ch.2 of ひぐらし. It’s been like a month almost since finishing the last part, I think. It is useful for my learning and I might like to start easing back into it.
・ 薬屋のひとりごと 12 (36% → 60%) // Time: 2h 45 min. Total: 6h 30 min
It was public holiday today, so I got to read quite a bit. I’m used to books with long chapters, but the chapters are relatively short in this book. Makes it easier to push through just one more and another one.
Poker face
Thanks! I’ve gotten better at skimming and not having to “read out loud” the readings in my mind at the easier passages. Not having to do much lookups also saves time. The reward of having the habit of looking up pretty much every word I’ve been unsure of while reading so far. Gotta build vocab before building speed.
And not being dead tired / dozing off also helps with keeping pace, as often can be the case when procrastinating reading until just before sleep time when I’m at the sleepiest
